施洗者約翰來了，禁食禁酒，你們就說他被鬼附身了；

耶和華對約書亞說：「從今天開始，我要使你在以色列人面前得到尊榮，讓他們知道我與你同在，正如從前我跟摩西同在一樣。

大家都被聖靈充滿，得到聖靈所賜的才能，說起別的語言來。

那一天，耶和華使約書亞在以色列眾人面前受尊重，他像摩西一樣終生受民眾敬畏。

無論你去哪裡，我都與你同在，為你剷除所有仇敵。現在我要使你聲名遠播，與世上的偉人齊名。

我告訴你們，凡婦人所生的，沒有一個比約翰大，但上帝國中最微不足道的也比他大。」

「你把以下條例告訴以色列人。「無論男女，如果許願做拿細耳人，把自己獻給耶和華，就要禁戒淡酒和烈酒、淡酒或烈酒做的醋、葡萄汁、葡萄和葡萄乾。在做拿細耳人期間，葡萄樹所結的，包括葡萄核和葡萄皮，都不可吃。

耶和華啊，是你使我從母腹中安然出生，讓我在母親懷裡便倚靠你。

他父親卻不同意，說：「我兒啊，我知道，我知道。他必發展成一個強大的民族，但他弟弟將比他更強大，他弟弟的後裔必成為多個民族。」

所以，你要留心，不可喝淡酒和烈酒，不可吃不潔之物。你必懷孕生一個兒子，你不可為他剃頭，因為他一出生就要歸給上帝做拿細耳人。他要從非利士人手中拯救以色列人。」婦人就去對丈夫說：「有一位上帝的僕人向我顯現，他的容貌像上帝的天使，非常可畏。我沒有問他從哪裡來，他也沒有把名字告訴我。

萬軍之耶和華必保護他們，他們必用彈石消滅、征服敵人，飲血呐喊，猶如醉酒，像獻祭用的碗盛滿了血，又像祭壇的四角淌滿了血。

我必使你成為大國，我必賜福給你，使你聲名遠播。你必成為別人的祝福。

富貴和尊榮都從你而來，你掌管一切，你手中有權能和力量，能使人尊大、強盛。

約翰是一盞點亮的明燈，你們情願暫時享受他的光。

你們究竟想看什麼？看先知嗎？是的，我告訴你們，他不只是先知。聖經上說，『看啊，我要差遣我的使者在你前面為你預備道路』，這裡所指的就是約翰。我實在告訴你們，凡婦人所生的，沒有一個興起來比施洗者約翰大，然而天國裡最微不足道的也比他大。「從施洗者約翰到現在，天國一直在強勁地擴展著，強勁的人要抓住它。因為到約翰為止，所有的先知和律法都在預言天國的事。如果你們願意接受，約翰就是那要來的以利亞。有耳可聽的都應該留心聽。「這個世代的人好像什麼呢？他們好像一群在街上玩耍的兒童對別的孩子說，『我們吹娶親的樂曲，你們不跳舞；我們唱送葬的哀歌，你們不悲傷。』約翰來了，也不吃也不喝，他們就說他被鬼附身。人子來了，又吃又喝，他們就說祂是貪吃好酒之徒，與稅吏和罪人為友。然而智慧會在她的作為上得到驗證。」

彼得和其他十一位使徒都站起來，他大聲對眾人說：「各位猶太同胞和住在耶路撒冷的人啊，請留心聽！我告訴你們這是怎麼回事。你們以為這些人是醉了，其實不是，因為現在才早上九點鐘。你們眼前看見的正是先知約珥所說的，『上帝說，在末後的日子，我要將我的靈澆灌所有的人，你們的兒女要說預言，青年要見異象，老人要做異夢。那時，我要將我的靈澆灌我的奴僕和婢女，他們都要說預言。
