我告诉你们，凡妇人所生的，没有一个比约翰大，但上帝国中最微不足道的也比他大。”

“你把以下条例告诉以色列人。“无论男女，如果许愿做拿细耳人，把自己献给耶和华，就要禁戒淡酒和烈酒、淡酒或烈酒做的醋、葡萄汁、葡萄和葡萄干。在做拿细耳人期间，葡萄树所结的，包括葡萄核和葡萄皮，都不可吃。

耶和华啊，是你使我从母腹中安然出生，让我在母亲怀里便倚靠你。

富贵和尊荣都从你而来，你掌管一切，你手中有权能和力量，能使人尊大、强盛。

约翰是一盏点亮的明灯，你们情愿暂时享受他的光。

你们究竟想看什么？看先知吗？是的，我告诉你们，他不只是先知。圣经上说，‘看啊，我要差遣我的使者在你前面为你预备道路’，这里所指的就是约翰。我实在告诉你们，凡妇人所生的，没有一个兴起来比施洗者约翰大，然而天国里最微不足道的也比他大。“从施洗者约翰到现在，天国一直在强劲地扩展着，强劲的人要抓住它。因为到约翰为止，所有的先知和律法都在预言天国的事。如果你们愿意接受，约翰就是那要来的以利亚。有耳可听的都应该留心听。“这个世代的人好像什么呢？他们好像一群在街上玩耍的儿童对别的孩子说，“‘我们吹娶亲的乐曲，你们不跳舞；我们唱送葬的哀歌，你们不悲伤。’约翰来了，也不吃也不喝，他们就说他被鬼附身。人子来了，又吃又喝，他们就说祂是贪吃好酒之徒，与税吏和罪人为友。然而智慧会在她的作为上得到验证。”

彼得和其他十一位使徒都站起来，他大声对众人说：“各位犹太同胞和住在耶路撒冷的人啊，请留心听！我告诉你们这是怎么回事。你们以为这些人是醉了，其实不是，因为现在才早上九点钟。你们眼前看见的正是先知约珥所说的，“‘上帝说，在末后的日子，我要将我的灵浇灌所有的人，你们的儿女要说预言，青年要见异象，老人要做异梦。那时，我要将我的灵浇灌我的奴仆和婢女，他们都要说预言。
