The Lord paid attention to Hannah’s need, and she conceived and gave birth to three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile, the boy Samuel grew up in the presence of the Lord.

The Angel of the Lord appeared to the woman and said to her,“ It is true that you are unable to conceive and have no children, but you will conceive and give birth to a son.Now please be careful not to drink wine or beer, or to eat anything unclean;for indeed, you will conceive and give birth to a son. You must never cut his hair, because the boy will be a Nazirite to God from birth, and he will begin to save Israel from the power of the Philistines.”

Sons are indeed a heritage from the Lord, children, a reward.Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the sons born in one’s youth.Happy is the man who has filled his quiver with them. Such men will never be put to shame when they speak with their enemies at the city gate.

He gives the childless woman a household, making her the joyful mother of children. Hallelujah!

This is My covenant, which you are to keep, between Me and you and your offspring after you: Every one of your males must be circumcised.

But the angel told the women,“ Don’t be afraid, because I know you are looking for Jesus who was crucified.

After some time, Hannah conceived and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, because she said,“ I requested him from the Lord.”When Elkanah and all his household went up to make the annual sacrifice and his vow offering to the Lord,Hannah did not go and explained to her husband,“ After the child is weaned, I’ll take him to appear in the Lord’s presence and to stay there permanently.”Her husband Elkanah replied,“ Do what you think is best, and stay here until you’ve weaned him. May the Lord confirm your word.” So Hannah stayed there and nursed her son until she weaned him.

But the Lord said to him,“ Peace to you. Don’t be afraid, for you will not die.”

Then the Lord said: Name him Not My People, for you are not My people, and I will not be your God.Yet the number of the Israelites will be like the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured or counted. And in the place where they were told: You are not My people, they will be called: Sons of the living God.

She will give birth to a son, and you are to name Him Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.”

She conceived again and gave birth to a daughter, and the Lord said to him: Name her No Compassion, for I will no longer have compassion on the house of Israel. I will certainly take them away.

Then the Lord said to him: Name him Jezreel, for in a little while I will bring the bloodshed of Jezreel on the house of Jehu and put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel.

But his mother responded,“ No! He will be called John.”Then they said to her,“ None of your relatives has that name.”So they motioned to his father to find out what he wanted him to be called.He asked for a writing tablet and wrote: HIS NAME IS JOHN. And they were all amazed.

“ Don’t be alarmed,” he told them.“ You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has been resurrected! He is not here! See the place where they put Him.

Immediately Jesus spoke to them.“ Have courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

Isaac prayed to the Lord on behalf of his wife because she was childless. The Lord heard his prayer, and his wife Rebekah conceived.

Is anything impossible for the Lord? At the appointed time I will come back to you, and in about a year she will have a son.”
