The Lord sent fire on the altar. The fire burned up the burnt offering along with the fat parts. All the people saw it. Then they shouted for joy. They fell with their faces to the ground.

Then they fell down flat with their faces toward the ground. They cried out,“ The Lord is the one and only God! The Lord is the one and only God!”

Manoah got a young goat. He brought it along with the grain offering. He sacrificed it on a rock to the Lord. Then the Lord did an amazing thing. It happened while Manoah and his wife were watching.A flame blazed up from the altar toward heaven. The angel of the Lord rose up in the flame. When Manoah and his wife saw it, they fell with their faces to the ground.

David built an altar there to honor the Lord. He sacrificed burnt offerings and friendship offerings. He called out to the Lord. The Lord answered him by sending fire from heaven on the altar for burnt offerings.

They sang to the Lord. They praised him. They gave thanks to him. They said,“ The Lord is good. His faithful love to Israel continues forever.” All the people gave a loud shout. They praised the Lord. They were glad because the foundation of the Lord’ s temple had been laid.

Shepherd of Israel, hear us. You lead the people of Joseph like a flock. You sit on your throne between the cherubim. Show your glory

Hezekiah prayed to the Lord. He said,“ Lord, you are the God of Israel. You sit on your throne between the cherubim. You alone are God over all the kingdoms on earth. You have made heaven and earth.

Solomon finished praying. Then fire came down from heaven. It burned up the burnt offering and the sacrifices. The glory of the Lord filled the temple.The priests couldn’t enter the temple of the Lord because his glory filled it.All the Israelites saw the fire coming down. They saw the glory of the Lord above the temple. So they got down on their knees in the courtyard with their faces toward the ground. They worshiped the Lord. They gave thanks to him and said,“ The Lord is good. His faithful love continues forever.”

But Moses and Aaron fell with their faces to the ground. They cried out,“ God, you are the God who gives life and breath to all living things. Will you be angry with the whole community when only one man sins?”

The sun set and it became dark. Then a burning torch and a pot filled with smoking coals appeared. They passed between the pieces of the animals that had been cut in two.

He went a little farther. Then he fell with his face to the ground. He prayed,“ My Father, if it is possible, take this cup of suffering away from me. But let what you want be done, not what I want.”

The living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to the one who sits on the throne. He lives for ever and ever.

There the angel of the Lord appeared to him from inside a burning bush. Moses saw that the bush was on fire. But it didn’t burn up.

Abram fell with his face to the ground. God said to him,

Then the four living creatures and the 24 elders fell down in front of the Lamb. Each one had a harp. They were holding golden bowls full of incense. They stand for the prayers of God’s people.

I’ve built a beautiful temple for you. You can live in it forever.”

All the angels were standing around the throne. They were standing around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces in front of the throne and worshiped God.

Then Moses and Aaron fell with their faces to the ground. They did it in front of the whole community of Israel gathered there.

But his wife answered,“ The Lord doesn’t want to kill us. If he did, he wouldn’t have accepted a burnt offering and a grain offering from us. He wouldn’t have shown us all these things. He wouldn’t have told us we’re going to have a son.”

May he remember all your sacrifices. May he accept your burnt offerings.May he give you what your heart wishes for. May he make all your plans succeed.

After some time, Cain gathered some things he had grown. He brought them as an offering to the Lord.And Abel also brought an offering. He brought the fattest parts of some animals from his flock. They were the first animals born to their mothers. The Lord was pleased with Abel and his offering.

The fire must be kept burning on the altar all the time. It must not go out.
