「若大祭司犯罪，禍及眾民，他必須獻給耶和華一頭毫無殘疾的公牛犢作贖罪祭。

「你要使亞倫父子們分別出來，做聖潔的祭司事奉我。你要選一頭公牛犢和兩隻毫無殘疾的公綿羊，

摩西牽來那頭作贖罪祭的公牛，亞倫父子們把手放在牛頭上。

然後，摩西獻上作燔祭的公綿羊，亞倫父子們把手放在羊頭上。

上帝的旨意是：耶穌基督只一次獻上自己的身體，便使我們永遠聖潔了。祭司都要天天站著供職，一次次地獻上同樣的祭物，只是這些祭物根本不能除罪。而基督一次獻上自己成為永遠的贖罪祭後，就坐在上帝的右邊，等待祂的仇敵成為祂的腳凳。祂憑自己的一次犧牲，使那些得以聖潔的人永遠純全。

上帝使無罪的基督擔當我們的罪，使我們可以藉著基督成為被上帝接納的義人。

祂無需像其他大祭司每天先為自己的罪獻祭，然後為百姓的罪獻祭，因為祂只一次獻上自己的生命，便永遠完成了贖罪的工作。

隨後，摩西對亞倫說：「你要到壇前來，獻上你的贖罪祭和燔祭，為自己和民眾贖罪。也要按照耶和華的吩咐，為百姓獻上他們的祭物，為他們贖罪。」於是，亞倫走到壇前，宰殺為他作贖罪祭的牛犢。

所以，他不但要為眾人的罪獻祭，也要為自己的罪獻祭。
