“ Speak to the Israelites. Tell them,‘ Do not eat any of the fat of cattle, sheep or goats.

“ Say to the Israelites:‘ Do not eat any of the fat of cattle, sheep or goats.

“ Speak to the people of Israel, saying, You shall eat no fat, of ox or sheep or goat.

“ Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. You must never eat fat, whether from cattle, sheep, or goats.

“ Tell the Israelites: You are not to eat any fat of an ox, a sheep, or a goat.

“ Speak to the sons of Israel, saying,‘ You shall not eat any fat from an ox, a sheep, or a goat.

“ Speak to the children of Israel, saying:‘ You shall not eat any fat, of ox or sheep or goat.

Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, Ye shall eat no fat, of ox, or sheep, or goat.

“ Tell the Israelites: You are not to eat any fat of an ox, a sheep, or a goat.

Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, Ye shall eat no manner of fat, of ox, or of sheep, or of goat.

“ Tell the Israelites,‘ You must not eat any fat of an ox, sheep, or goat.

“ Speak to the children of Israel, saying,‘ You shall eat no fat, of bull, or sheep, or goat.

Then the priest must burn the offering on the altar as food. It is a food offering. It has a pleasant smell. All the fat belongs to the Lord.“‘ You must not eat any fat or any blood. That is a law that will last for all time to come. It applies no matter where you live.’ ”

Where are the gods who ate the fat of their sacrifices? Where are the gods who drank the wine of their drink offerings? Let those gods rise up to help you! Let them keep you safe!

He must remove all the fat from the bull for the sin offering. It includes the fat that is connected to the inside parts.It includes both kidneys with the fat on them next to the lower back muscles. It also includes the long part of the liver. He must remove all of it together with the kidneys.He must remove it in the same way the fat is removed from an ox sacrificed as a friendship offering. Then the priest must burn all of it on the altar for burnt offerings.

Why don’t you treat my sacrifices and offerings with respect? I require them to be brought to the house where I live. Why do you honor your sons more than me? Why do you fatten yourselves on the best parts of every offering that is made by my people Israel?’

Even before the fat was burned, the priest’s servant would come over. He would speak to the person who was offering the sacrifice. He would say,“ Give the priest some meat to cook. He won’t accept boiled meat from you. He’ll only accept raw meat.”Sometimes the person would say to him,“ Let the fat be burned first. Then take what you want.” But the servant would answer,“ No. Hand it over right now. If you don’t, I’ll take it away from you by force.”That sin of Eli’s sons was very great in the Lord’ s sight. That’s because they were not treating his offering with respect.

These people’s hearts have become stubborn. They can barely hear with their ears. They have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes. They might hear with their ears. They might understand with their hearts. They might turn, and then I would heal them.’( Isaiah 6:9, 10)

Let us act as we should, like people living in the daytime. Have nothing to do with wild parties, and don’t get drunk. Don’t take part in sexual sins or evil conduct. Don’t fight with each other or be jealous of anyone.

If you live under the power of sin, you will die. But by the Spirit’s power you can put to death the sins you commit. Then you will live.

The priest must splash the blood against my altar. It is the altar at the entrance to the tent of meeting. He must burn the fat. Its smell will please me.
