“‘ No person devoted to destruction may be ransomed; they are to be put to death.

No one devoted, who is to be devoted for destruction from mankind, shall be ransomed; he shall surely be put to death.

No person specially set apart for destruction may be bought back. Such a person must be put to death.

No person who has been set apart for destruction is to be ransomed; he must be put to death.

No one who may have been set apart among mankind shall be ransomed; he must be put to death.

No person under the ban, who may become doomed to destruction among men, shall be redeemed, but shall surely be put to death.

Then Israel made a promise to the Lord. They said,“ Hand these people over to us. If you do, we will set their cities apart to you in a special way to be destroyed.”The Lord gave Israel what they asked for. He handed the Canaanites over to them. Israel completely destroyed them and their towns. So that place was named Hormah.
