“‘ As for those of you who are left, I will make their hearts so fearful in the lands of their enemies that the sound of a windblown leaf will put them to flight. They will run as though fleeing from the sword, and they will fall, even though no one is pursuing them.

“‘ Some of you will be left in the lands of your enemies. I will fill your hearts with fear. The sound of a leaf blown by the wind will scare you away. You will run as if you were escaping from swords. You will fall down, even though no one is chasing you.

“ And for those of you who survive, I will demoralize you in the land of your enemies. You will live in such fear that the sound of a leaf driven by the wind will send you fleeing. You will run as though fleeing from a sword, and you will fall even when no one pursues you.

“ I will put anxiety in the hearts of those of you who survive in the lands of their enemies. The sound of a wind-driven leaf will put them to flight, and they will flee as one flees from a sword, and fall though no one is pursuing them.

As for those among you who are left, I will also bring despair into their hearts in the lands of their enemies. And the sound of a scattered leaf will chase them, and even when no one is pursuing they will flee as though from the sword, and they will fall.

And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore sighest thou? that thou shalt answer, For the tidings; because it cometh: and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall faint, and all knees shall be weak[ as] water: behold, it cometh, and shall be brought to pass, saith the Lord GOD.

One thousand[ shall flee] at the rebuke of one; at the rebuke of five shall ye flee: till ye be left as a beacon upon the top of a mountain, and as an ensign on an hill.

And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you.

The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses,[ even] the noise of a great host: and they said one to another, Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.Wherefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, even the camp as it[ was], and fled for their life.

And it was told the house of David, saying, Syria is confederate with Ephraim. And his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the wood are moved with the wind.

And ye shall chase your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword.And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight: and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.

Cry and howl, son of man: for it shall be upon my people, it[ shall be] upon all the princes of Israel: terrors by reason of the sword shall be upon my people: smite therefore upon[ thy] thigh.

A dreadful sound[ is] in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword.

And they journeyed: and the terror of God was upon the cities that[ were] round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.

And the Amorites, which dwelt in that mountain, came out against you, and chased you, as bees do, and destroyed you in Seir,[ even] unto Hormah.

I have set the point of the sword against all their gates, that[ their] heart may faint, and[ their] ruins be multiplied: ah![ it is] made bright,[ it is] wrapped up for the slaughter.
