你要吃，卻吃不飽；你的虛弱必顯在你中間。你必挪去，卻不得救護；所救護的，我必交給刀劍。

那時，我要將滅人、使人饑荒的惡箭，就是射去滅人的，射在你們身上，並要加增你們的饑荒，斷絕你們所倚靠的糧食；

他又對我說：「人子啊，我必在耶路撒冷折斷他們的杖，就是斷絕他們的糧。他們吃餅要按分兩，憂慮而吃；喝水也要按制子，驚惶而喝；

他命饑荒降在那地上，將所倚靠的糧食全行斷絕，

你們撒的種多，收的卻少；你們吃，卻不得飽；喝，卻不得足；穿衣服，卻不得暖；得工錢的，將工錢裝在破漏的囊中。」

「人子啊，若有一國犯罪干犯我，我也向他伸手折斷他們的杖，就是斷絕他們的糧，使饑荒臨到那地，將人與牲畜從其中剪除；

有人右邊搶奪，仍受飢餓，左邊吞吃，仍不飽足；各人吃自己膀臂上的肉。

野狗尚且把奶乳哺其子，我民的婦人倒成為殘忍，好像曠野的鴕鳥一般。吃奶孩子的舌頭因乾渴貼住上膛；孩童求餅，無人擘給他們。素來吃美好食物的，現今在街上變為孤寒；素來臥朱紅褥子的，現今躺臥糞堆。都因我眾民的罪孽比所多瑪的罪還大；所多瑪雖然無人加手於她，還是轉眼之間被傾覆。錫安的貴冑素來比雪純淨，比奶更白；他們的身體比紅寶玉更紅，像光潤的藍寶石一樣。現在他們的面貌比煤炭更黑，以致在街上無人認識；他們的皮膚緊貼骨頭，枯乾如同槁木。餓死的不如被刀殺的，因為這是缺了田間的土產，就身體衰弱，漸漸消滅。

你所吃的要按分兩吃，每日二十舍客勒，按時而吃。

他們吃，卻不得飽；行淫，而不得立後；因為他們離棄耶和華，不遵他的命。

他們禁食的時候，我不聽他們的呼求；他們獻燔祭和素祭，我也不悅納；我卻要用刀劍、饑荒、瘟疫滅絕他們。」
