So it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites, the Amalekites, and the children of the east came up against them.They encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, until you come to Gaza. “ You, son of man, tell the house of Israel:‘ You say this,“ Our transgressions and our sins are on us, and we pine away in them. How then can we live?”’

They will eat up your harvest and your bread, which your sons and your daughters should eat. They will eat up your flocks and your herds. They will eat up your vines and your fig trees. They will beat down your fortified cities in which you trust with the sword.

They will eat the fruit of your livestock and the fruit of your ground, until you are destroyed. They also won’t leave you grain, new wine, oil, the increase of your livestock, or the young of your flock, until they have caused you to perish.

Yahweh will make the pestilence cling to you, until he has consumed you from off the land where you go in to possess it.Yahweh will strike you with consumption, with fever, with inflammation, with fiery heat, with the sword, with blight, and with mildew. They will pursue you until you perish.

You will sow, but won’t reap. You will tread the olives, but won’t anoint yourself with oil; and crush grapes, but won’t drink the wine.

the wicked man writhes in pain all his days, even the number of years that are laid up for the oppressor.A sound of terrors is in his ears. In prosperity the destroyer will come on him.

Their widows are increased more than the sand of the seas. I have brought on them against the mother of the young men a destroyer at noonday. I have caused anguish and terrors to fall on her suddenly.

They have sown wheat, and have reaped thorns. They have exhausted themselves, and profit nothing. You will be ashamed of your fruits, because of Yahweh’s fierce anger.”

David’s house was told,“ Syria is allied with Ephraim.” His heart trembled, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest tremble with the wind.

He draws it out, and it comes out of his body. Yes, the glittering point comes out of his liver. Terrors are on him.

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Among these nations you will find no ease, and there will be no rest for the sole of your foot; but Yahweh will give you there a trembling heart, failing of eyes, and pining of soul.Your life will hang in doubt before you. You will be afraid night and day, and will have no assurance of your life.In the morning you will say,“ I wish it were evening!” and at evening you will say,“ I wish it were morning!” for the fear of your heart which you will fear, and for the sights which your eyes will see.

He said,“ If you will diligently listen to Yahweh your God’s voice, and will do that which is right in his eyes, and will pay attention to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you, which I have put on the Egyptians; for I am Yahweh who heals you.”

Your sons and your daughters will be given to another people. Your eyes will look, and fail with longing for them all day long. They will only bow down under the prisoners, and will fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
