“‘ If any of your fellow Israelites become poor and are unable to support themselves among you, help them as you would a foreigner and stranger, so they can continue to live among you.

“‘ Suppose any of your own people become poor. And suppose they can’t take care of themselves. Then help them just as you would help an outsider or a stranger. In that way, the poor can continue to live among you.

“ If your brother becomes poor and cannot maintain himself with you, you shall support him as though he were a stranger and a sojourner, and he shall live with you.

“ If one of your fellow Israelites falls into poverty and cannot support himself, support him as you would a foreigner or a temporary resident and allow him to live with you.

“ If your brother becomes destitute and cannot sustain himself among you, you are to support him as an alien or temporary resident, so that he can continue to live among you.

‘ Now in case a countryman of yours becomes poor and his means among you falter, then you are to sustain him, like a stranger or a resident, so that he may live with you.

‘ If one of your brethren becomes poor, and falls into poverty among you, then you shall help him, like a stranger or a sojourner, that he may live with you.

And if thy brother be waxed poor, and his hand fail with thee; then thou shalt uphold him: as a stranger and a sojourner shall he live with thee.

If a fellow Israelite from one of your villages in the land that the LORD your God is giving you should be poor, you must not harden your heart or be insensitive to his impoverished condition.Instead, you must be sure to open your hand to him and generously lend him whatever he needs.

So the disciples, each in accordance with his financial ability, decided to send relief to the brothers living in Judea.

The one who oppresses the poor insults his Creator, but whoever shows favor to the needy honors him.

How blessed is the one who treats the poor properly! When trouble comes, the LORD delivers him.

But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to ungrateful and evil people.

All day long he shows compassion and lends to others, and his children are blessed.

He generously gives to the needy; his integrity endures. He will be vindicated and honored.

It goes well for the one who generously lends money, and conducts his business honestly.

Listen, my dear brothers and sisters! Did not God choose the poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he promised to those who love him?But you have dishonored the poor! Are not the rich oppressing you and dragging you into the courts?

“ You must not oppress a foreigner, since you know the life of a foreigner, for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt.

The one who is gracious to the poor lends to the LORD, and the LORD will repay him for his good deed.

Rather, if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing this you will be heaping burning coals on his head.

You must not oppress a lowly and poor servant, whether one from among your fellow Israelites or from the resident foreigners who are living in your land and villages.You must pay his wage that very day before the sun sets, for he is poor and his life depends on it. Otherwise he will cry out to the LORD against you, and you will be guilty of sin.

who justly treats the orphan and widow, and who loves resident foreigners, giving them food and clothing.So you must love the resident foreigner because you were foreigners in the land of Egypt.

For it is not necessary for me to write you about this service to the saints,

The foreigner who resides with you must be to you like a native citizen among you; so you must love him as yourself, because you were foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that although he was rich, he became poor for your sakes, so that you by his poverty could become rich.

Do not neglect hospitality, because through it some have entertained angels without knowing it.

The one who mocks the poor insults his Creator; whoever rejoices over disaster will not go unpunished.

Contribute to the needs of the saints, pursue hospitality.

For you will always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me!”

If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all people.

“‘ If your brother becomes impoverished and sells some of his property, his near redeemer is to come to you and redeem what his brother sold.

For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,

A poor person is disliked even by his neighbors, but those who love the rich are many.The one who despises his neighbor sins, but whoever is kind to the needy is blessed.

because the service of this ministry is not only providing for the needs of the saints but is also overflowing with many thanks to God.Through the evidence of this service they will glorify God because of your obedience to your confession in the gospel of Christ and the generosity of your sharing with them and with everyone.And in their prayers on your behalf they long for you because of the extraordinary grace God has shown to you.Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

For you will always have the poor with you, and you can do good for them whenever you want. But you will not always have me!

They requested only that we remember the poor, the very thing I also was eager to do.
