“‘ If one of your fellow Israelites becomes poor and sells some of their property, their nearest relative is to come and redeem what they have sold.

“‘ Suppose one of your own people becomes poor. And suppose they have to sell some of their land. Then their nearest relative must come and buy back what they have sold.

If one of your fellow Israelites falls into poverty and is forced to sell some family land, then a close relative should buy it back for him.

‘ If a fellow countryman of yours becomes so poor that he sells part of his property, then his closest redeemer is to come and buy back what his relative has sold.

But if you will not, tell me, that I may know, for there is no one besides you to redeem it, and I come after you.” And he said,“ I will redeem it.”Then Boaz said,“ The day you buy the field from the hand of Naomi, you also acquire Ruth the Moabite, the widow of the dead, in order to perpetuate the name of the dead in his inheritance.”Then the redeemer said,“ I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I impair my own inheritance. Take my right of redemption yourself, for I cannot redeem it.”

Is not Boaz our relative, with whose young women you were? See, he is winnowing barley tonight at the threshing floor.
