Consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you; each of you is to return to your family property and to your own clan.

Set the 50th year apart. Announce freedom all over the land to everyone who lives there. The 50th year will be a Year of Jubilee for you. Each of you must return to your own family property. And each of you must return to your own tribe.

And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you, when each of you shall return to his property and each of you shall return to his clan.

Set this year apart as holy, a time to proclaim freedom throughout the land for all who live there. It will be a jubilee year for you, when each of you may return to the land that belonged to your ancestors and return to your own clan.

The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord after King Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people who were in Jerusalem, to proclaim release to them:

For the day of vengeance was in My heart, And My year of redemption has come.

“ I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

‘ On this year of jubilee each of you shall return to his own property.

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord anointed me To bring good news to the humble; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim release to captives And freedom to prisoners;To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn,To grant those who mourn in Zion, Giving them a garland instead of ashes, The oil of gladness instead of mourning, The cloak of praise instead of a disheartened spirit. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.

Act as free people, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bond servants of God.

For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love.

Now this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is enslaved with her children.But the Jerusalem above is free; she is our mother.For it is written:“ Rejoice, infertile one, you who do not give birth; Break forth and shout, you who are not in labor; For the children of the desolate one are more numerous Than those of the one who has a husband.”And you, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise.But as at that time the son who was born according to the flesh persecuted the one who was born according to the Spirit, so it is even now.But what does the Scripture say?“ Drive out the slave woman and her son, For the son of the slave woman shall not be an heir with the son of the free woman.”So then, brothers and sisters, we are not children of a slave woman, but of the free woman.It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

Who executes justice for the oppressed; Who gives food to the hungry. The Lord frees the prisoners.

But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were entrusted,and after being freed from sin, you became slaves to righteousness.

And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read.And the scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to Him. And He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written:“ The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He anointed Me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to captives, And recovery of sight to the blind, To set free those who are oppressed,To proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.”And He rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down; and the eyes of all the people in the synagogue were intently directed at Him.Now He began to say to them,“ Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”

and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”They answered Him,“ We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been enslaved to anyone; how is it that You say,‘ You will become free’?”Jesus answered them,“ Truly, truly I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.Now the slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever.So if the Son sets you free, you really will be free.

promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by what anyone is overcome, by this he is enslaved.For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world by the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and are overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.

Or in case someone has no redeemer, but recovers to find sufficient means for its redemption,then he shall calculate the years since its sale and refund the balance to the man to whom he sold it, and so return to his property.But if he has not found sufficient means to get it back for himself, then what he has sold shall remain in the hands of its purchaser until the year of jubilee; but at the jubilee it shall revert, so that he may return to his property.

Saying to those who are bound,‘ Go free,’ To those who are in darkness,‘ Show yourselves.’ They will feed along the roads, And their pasture will be on all bare heights.

As for you also, because of the blood of My covenant with you, I have set your prisoners free from the waterless pit.Return to the stronghold, you prisoners who have the hope; This very day I am declaring that I will restore double to you.

Whoever there is among you of all His people, may his God be with him! Go up to Jerusalem which is in Judah and rebuild the house of the Lord, the God of Israel; He is the God who is in Jerusalem.

“ This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says:‘ I made a covenant with your forefathers on the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, saying,“ At the end of seven years each of you shall set free his Hebrew brother who has been sold to you and has served you for six years, and you shall send him out free from you.” But your forefathers did not obey Me nor incline their ear to Me.Although recently you had turned and done what is right in My sight, each one proclaiming release to his neighbor, and you had made a covenant before Me in the house which is called by My name.Yet you turned and profaned My name, and each person took back his male servant and each his female servant whom you had set free according to their desire, and you brought them into subjection to be your male and female servants.’“ Therefore this is what the Lord says:‘ You have not obeyed Me in proclaiming release, each one to his brother and each to his neighbor. Behold, I am proclaiming a release to you,’ declares the Lord,‘ to the sword, to the plague, and to the famine; and I will make you a terror to all the kingdoms of the earth.

“ Can the prey be taken from a mighty man, Or the captives of a tyrant be rescued?”Indeed, this is what the Lord says:“ Even the captives of the mighty man will be taken away, And the prey of a tyrant will be rescued; For I will contend with the one who contends with you, And I will save your sons.

To grant us that we, being rescued from the hand of our enemies, Would serve Him without fear,

What, therefore, belongs to the Levites may be redeemed, and a house sale in the city of this possession reverts in the jubilee, because the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the sons of Israel.But pasture fields of their cities shall not be sold, for that is their permanent possession.

and they said,“ The Lord commanded my lord to give the land by lot to the sons of Israel as an inheritance, and my lord was commanded by the Lord to give the inheritance of our brother Zelophehad to his daughters.But if they marry one of the sons of the other tribes of the sons of Israel, their inheritance will be withdrawn from the inheritance of our fathers and will be added to the inheritance of the tribe to which they belong; so it will be withdrawn from our allotted inheritance.And when the jubilee of the sons of Israel takes place, then their inheritance will be added to the inheritance of the tribe to which they belong; so their inheritance will be withdrawn from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers.”Then Moses commanded the sons of Israel in accordance with the word of the Lord, saying,“ The tribe of the sons of Joseph is right in its statements.This is what the Lord has commanded regarding the daughters of Zelophehad, saying,‘ Let them marry whomever they wish; only they must marry within the family of the tribe of their father.’So no inheritance of the sons of Israel will be transferred from tribe to tribe, for the sons of Israel shall each retain possession of the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.And every daughter who comes into possession of an inheritance of any tribe of the sons of Israel shall marry one of the family of the tribe of her father, so that the sons of Israel may each possess the inheritance of his fathers.So no inheritance will be transferred from one tribe to another tribe, for the tribes of the sons of Israel shall each retain possession of its own inheritance.”

If he consecrates his field as of the year of jubilee, according to your assessment it shall stand.If he consecrates his field after the jubilee, however, then the priest shall calculate the price for him proportionate to the years that are left until the year of jubilee; and it shall be deducted from your assessment.If the one who consecrates it should ever want to redeem the field, then he shall add a fifth of your assessment price to it, so that it may belong to him.Yet if he does not redeem the field, but has sold the field to another person, it may no longer be redeemed;and when it reverts in the jubilee, the field shall be holy to the Lord, like a field banned from secular use; it shall be for the priest as his property.Or if he consecrates to the Lord a field which he has bought, which is not a part of the field of his own property,then the priest shall calculate for him the amount of your assessment up to the year of jubilee; and he shall on that day give your assessment as holy to the Lord.In the year of jubilee the field shall return to the one from whom he bought it, to whom the possession of the land belongs.
