for you were at one time darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Then you must recall the LORD’s instructions and the prophetic testimony of what would happen. Certainly they say such things because their minds are spiritually darkened.

The true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.

For God, who said“ Let light shine out of darkness,” is the one who shined in our hearts to give us the light of the glorious knowledge of God in the face of Christ.

I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you spiritual wisdom and revelation in your growing knowledge of him,– since the eyes of your heart have been enlightened– so that you may know what is the hope of his calling, what is the wealth of his glorious inheritance in the saints,

Then Jesus spoke out again,“ I am the light of the world. The one who follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

and the lamp of God had not yet been extinguished. Samuel was lying down in the temple of the LORD as well; the ark of God was also there.The LORD called to Samuel, and he replied,“ Here I am!”

Your word is a lamp to walk by, and a light to illumine my path.

“ Get dressed for service and keep your lamps burning;

They offer burnt sacrifices to the LORD every morning and every evening, along with fragrant incense. They arrange the Bread of the Presence on a ritually clean table and light the lamps on the gold lampstand every evening. According to the pattern which the LORD had shown Moses, so he made the lampstand.

Your instructions are a doorway through which light shines. They give insight to the untrained.

In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good deeds and give honor to your Father in heaven.

In him was life, and the life was the light of mankind.

the people who sit in darkness have seen a great light,and on those who sit in the region and shadow of death a light has dawned.”

The LORD’s spirit will rest on him– a spirit that gives extraordinary wisdom, a spirit that provides the ability to execute plans, a spirit that produces absolute loyalty to the LORD.

He was a lamp that was burning and shining, and you wanted to rejoice greatly for a short time in his light.
