Who among all the gods of these nations that my predecessors completely destroyed was able to rescue his people from my power, that your God should be able to deliver you from my power?So now, don’t let Hezekiah deceive you, and don’t let him mislead you like this. Don’t believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom has been able to rescue his people from my power or the power of my predecessors. How much less will your God rescue you from my power!’”His servants said more against the LORD God and against his servant Hezekiah.He also wrote letters to mock the LORD, the God of Israel, saying against him: Just like the national gods of the lands that did not rescue their people from my power, so Hezekiah’s God will not rescue his people from my power.

Then the high priest tore his robes and said,“ He has blasphemed! Why do we still need witnesses? See, now you’ve heard the blasphemy.

even though I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an arrogant man. But I received mercy because I acted out of ignorance in unbelief,

Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses, Aaron, and the entire community.They placed him in custody because it had not been decided what should be done to him.Then the LORD told Moses,“ The man is to be put to death. The entire community is to stone him outside the camp.”

Don’t let Hezekiah persuade you to rely on the LORD by saying,“ Certainly the LORD will rescue us! This city will not be handed over to the king of Assyria.”’

Remember this: the enemy has mocked the LORD, and a foolish people has insulted your name.
