On the first day you are to take branches from luxuriant trees— from palms, willows and other leafy trees— and rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days.

On the first day you must get branches from palms, willows and other leafy trees. You must be filled with joy in front of the Lord your God for seven days.

And you shall take on the first day the fruit of splendid trees, branches of palm trees and boughs of leafy trees and willows of the brook, and you shall rejoice before the Lord your God seven days.

On the first day gather branches from magnificent trees— palm fronds, boughs from leafy trees, and willows that grow by the streams. Then celebrate with joy before the Lord your God for seven days.

住棚節期間，你們要和兒女、僕婢、同城的利未人、寄居者及孤兒寡婦一起歡慶。要在你們的上帝耶和華選定的地方，為祂守住棚節七天；要滿心歡喜，因為你們的上帝耶和華賜福你們，使你們的出產豐富、凡事順利。

你們要靠主常常喜樂！我再說，你們要喜樂！

當時，他們發現耶和華藉摩西吩咐的律法上記載，以色列人要在七月節期期間住在棚子裡，並且要在他們的各城邑和耶路撒冷宣佈：「你們要上山取橄欖樹、野橄欖樹、番石榴樹、棕櫚樹和其他茂密樹木的枝子，照著所規定的搭棚。」於是，民眾都出去取來樹枝，在自家的屋頂上、庭院裡、上帝殿的院子裡、水門的廣場上和以法蓮門的廣場上搭棚。從流亡之地歸回的民眾都搭起棚子，住在裡面。從嫩的兒子約書亞時代直到那天，以色列人從沒有這樣做過。民眾非常歡喜。

就拿著棕樹枝出去迎接祂，並且高聲歡呼：「和散那！奉主名來的以色列王當受稱頌！」

同樣，現在你們有憂愁，但到我再見你們的時候，你們的心必歡喜，而且這份喜樂是誰也奪不去的。

耶和華救贖的子民必歡唱著回到錫安，洋溢著永遠的快樂。他們必歡喜快樂，憂愁和歎息都消失無蹤。

你們雖然沒有見過基督，卻愛祂；雖然現在看不見祂，卻信祂，並且有無法形容、充滿榮耀的喜樂。

「愛耶路撒冷的人啊，要與她一同歡喜，為她高興。為她悲哀的人啊，要與她盡情歡樂。

後來我又看見一大群人，多得不可勝數。他們來自各國家、各部落、各民族、各語言族群，身穿白袍，手拿棕樹枝，站在寶座和羔羊面前，

不但如此，我們藉著主耶穌基督與上帝和好之後，還要藉著祂在上帝面前歡喜。

因為真正受割禮的人是我們這些靠著上帝的靈敬拜、以基督耶穌為榮、不倚靠自身條件的人。

許多人把衣服鋪在路上，也有些人砍下樹枝鋪在路上。

義人必如生機勃勃的棕櫚樹，像茁壯生長的黎巴嫩香柏樹。
