It is a day of sabbath rest for you, and you must deny yourselves. From the evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening you are to observe your sabbath.”

That day is a day of sabbath rest for you. You must rest on it. You must not eat anything on that day. You must follow the rules of the sabbath rest. Follow them from the evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening.”

It shall be to you a Sabbath of solemn rest, and you shall afflict yourselves. On the ninth day of the month beginning at evening, from evening to evening shall you keep your Sabbath.”

This will be a Sabbath day of complete rest for you, and on that day you must deny yourselves. This day of rest will begin at sundown on the ninth day of the month and extend until sundown on the tenth day.”

It will be a Sabbath of complete rest for you, and you must practice self-denial. You are to observe your Sabbath from the evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening.”

一切勞苦背重擔的人哪，來找我吧，我便給你們安歇。我心裏柔和謙卑，你們要負我的軛來跟我學，你們心裏就可得安歇。因為我的軛是好負的，我的擔子是輕省的。』

這一日你們要守為完全歇工的安息日；要刻苦自己；這是永遠的條例。

至於我呢、我在他們有病時、卻穿着麻衣，以禁食刻苦自己。我所祈禱的都回到自己懷中。

『七月初十日、是除罪日；你們要有聖聚會，要刻苦自己，要將火祭獻與永恆主。

分派給錫安悲哀的人，賜給他們華帽以代替爐灰，喜樂油以代替悲哀，頌讚之披風以代替暗淡沮喪之靈，使他們稱為義氣之篤耨香，是永恆主所栽種，以使自己得榮美的。

我以禁食壓制我心，這倒成了我的羞辱。我拿麻布當服裝，就成了他們的笑談。

上帝所要的祭乃是憂傷的靈；憂傷痛悔的心，上帝啊，你不藐視。

但我們如果常察辨自己，就不至於受審判了。

願流淚撒播的、歡呼地收割。願那帶着撒種的種子、哭着出去的、帶着禾捆、歡呼地回來。

他們說：「為甚麼我們禁食，而你不看呢？為甚麼我們刻苦自己，而你不理會呢？」嘿，你們禁食的日子、仍然追求所喜歡作的事！逕自壓迫一切為你們作苦工的人！嘿，你們禁食、只為的是吵鬧和爭競，拿兇惡的拳頭打人呀！像你們今天這樣的禁食並不能使你們的聲音在高天得聽到呀。我所選擇、使人刻苦自己的日子難道是這樣的禁食麼？難道只是叫人垂頭像燈心草，拿麻布和爐灰當床鋪麼？難道你要把這樣叫做禁食，作為使永恆主悅納的日子麼？我所選擇的真禁食豈不是以下這些行為：『豈不是打開兇惡的銬鐐，解下軛上的繩索，使被壓制的得自由，折斷一切的軛麼？豈不是把你的食物分給饑餓的人，將流浪的貧困人帶到你家中，見赤身裸體的、給他衣服遮身，而不躲藏避開你骨肉之親麼？

所以我們要竭力進入那安息，免得有人因同一類的不信而倒斃了。

到底還是我們這些相信的人竟得進入安息呢；正如上帝所說的：『我帶着怒氣起誓說，他們斷不得以進入我的安息』。其實上帝之工、從世界創立以來就已作完了。

因為那崇高又高聳的這麼說，那住「永恆」、其名為聖者說：『我住崇高而至聖的所在，也跟心靈痛悔而謙卑的人同住，要使謙卑人的靈活起來，使痛悔之人的心復活。

他所行的路我看見了；但我要醫治他，引導他，將安慰賞報他，為哀悼他的人創造嘴脣的果子來：願平安福利，給遠處的人，也給近處的人；永恆主說：我並且要醫治他。

哀慟的人有福啊！因為他們必得安慰。
