Leviticus 19:9-10
“ When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap your field right up to its edge, neither shall you gather the gleanings after your harvest. And you shall not strip your vineyard bare, neither shall you gather the fallen grapes of your vineyard. You shall leave them for the poor and for the sojourner: I am the Lord your God.

Deuteronomy 24:19-21
“ When you reap your harvest in your field and forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it. It shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. When you beat your olive trees, you shall not go over them again. It shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow. When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not strip it afterward. It shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow.

And you shall rejoice before the Lord your God, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, the Levite who is within your towns, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow who are among you, at the place that the Lord your God will choose, to make his name dwell there. You shall remember that you were a slave in Egypt; and you shall be careful to observe these statutes.“ You shall keep the Feast of Booths seven days, when you have gathered in the produce from your threshing floor and your winepress. You shall rejoice in your feast, you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, the Levite, the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow who are within your towns.

Ruth 2:15-23
When she rose to glean, Boaz instructed his young men, saying,“ Let her glean even among the sheaves, and do not reproach her.And also pull out some from the bundles for her and leave it for her to glean, and do not rebuke her.”So she gleaned in the field until evening. Then she beat out what she had gleaned, and it was about an ephah of barley. And she took it up and went into the city. Her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned. She also brought out and gave her what food she had left over after being satisfied. And her mother-in-law said to her,“ Where did you glean today? And where have you worked? Blessed be the man who took notice of you.” So she told her mother-in-law with whom she had worked and said,“ The man’s name with whom I worked today is Boaz.”And Naomi said to her daughter-in-law,“ May he be blessed by the Lord, whose kindness has not forsaken the living or the dead!” Naomi also said to her,“ The man is a close relative of ours, one of our redeemers.”And Ruth the Moabite said,“ Besides, he said to me,‘ You shall keep close by my young men until they have finished all my harvest.’”And Naomi said to Ruth, her daughter-in-law,“ It is good, my daughter, that you go out with his young women, lest in another field you be assaulted.”So she kept close to the young women of Boaz, gleaning until the end of the barley and wheat harvests. And she lived with her mother-in-law.

And he said to the reapers,“ The Lord be with you!” And they answered,“ The Lord bless you.”Then Boaz said to his young man who was in charge of the reapers,“ Whose young woman is this?”And the servant who was in charge of the reapers answered,“ She is the young Moabite woman, who came back with Naomi from the country of Moab. She said,‘ Please let me glean and gather among the sheaves after the reapers.’ So she came, and she has continued from early morning until now, except for a short rest.”

2 Corinthians 9 5-2 Corinthians 9 12
So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to go on ahead to you and arrange in advance for the gift you have promised, so that it may be ready as a willing gift, not as an exaction. The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.As it is written,“ He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever.”He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.

One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want.Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.

Isaiah 58:7-8
Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh? Then shall your light break forth like the dawn, and your healing shall spring up speedily; your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.

Job 31:16-21
“ If I have withheld anything that the poor desired, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail,or have eaten my morsel alone, and the fatherless has not eaten of it( for from my youth the fatherless grew up with me as with a father, and from my mother’s womb I guided the widow),if I have seen anyone perish for lack of clothing, or the needy without covering,if his body has not blessed me, and if he was not warmed with the fleece of my sheep,if I have raised my hand against the fatherless, because I saw my help in the gate,

Psalms 41:1-3
Blessed is the one who considers the poor! In the day of trouble the Lord delivers him;the Lord protects him and keeps him alive; he is called blessed in the land; you do not give him up to the will of his enemies. The Lord sustains him on his sickbed; in his illness you restore him to full health.
