“‘ When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and for the foreigner residing among you. I am the Lord your God.’”

“‘ Suppose you are gathering your crops. Then do not harvest all the way to the edges of your field. And do not pick up the grain you missed. Leave some for the poor people and the outsiders who live among you. I am the Lord your God.’ ”

「你在田間收割莊稼，若忘下一捆，不可回去再取，要留給寄居的與孤兒寡婦。這樣，耶和華－你神必在你手裏所辦的一切事上賜福與你。你打橄欖樹，枝上剩下的，不可再打；要留給寄居的與孤兒寡婦。你摘葡萄園的葡萄，所剩下的，不可再摘；要留給寄居的與孤兒寡婦。

你和你兒女、僕婢，並住在你城裏的利未人，以及在你們中間寄居的與孤兒寡婦，都要在耶和華－你神所選擇立為他名的居所，在耶和華－你的神面前歡樂。你也要記念你在埃及作過奴僕。你要謹守遵行這些律例。」「你把禾場的穀、酒醡的酒收藏以後，就要守住棚節七日。守節的時候，你和你兒女、僕婢，並住在你城裏的利未人，以及寄居的與孤兒寡婦，都要歡樂。

她起來又拾取麥穗，波阿斯吩咐僕人說：「她就是在捆中拾取麥穗，也可以容她，不可羞辱她；並要從捆裏抽出些來，留在地下任她拾取，不可叱嚇她。」這樣，路得在田間拾取麥穗，直到晚上，將所拾取的打了，約有一伊法大麥。她就把所拾取的帶進城去給婆婆看，又把她吃飽了所剩的給了婆婆。婆婆問她說：「你今日在哪裏拾取麥穗，在哪裏做工呢？願那顧恤你的得福。」路得就告訴婆婆說：「我今日在一個名叫波阿斯的人那裏做工。」拿俄米對兒婦說：「願那人蒙耶和華賜福，因為他不斷地恩待活人死人。」拿俄米又說：「那是我們本族的人，是一個至近的親屬。」摩押女子路得說：「他對我說：『你要緊隨我的僕人拾取麥穗，直等他們收完了我的莊稼。』」拿俄米對兒婦路得說：「女兒啊，你跟着他的使女出去，不叫人遇見你在別人田間，這才為好。」於是路得與波阿斯的使女常在一處拾取麥穗，直到收完了大麥和小麥。路得仍與婆婆同住。

路得就去了，來到田間，在收割的人身後拾取麥穗。她恰巧到了以利米勒本族的人波阿斯那塊田裏。波阿斯正從伯利恆來，對收割的人說：「願耶和華與你們同在！」他們回答說：「願耶和華賜福與你！」波阿斯問監管收割的僕人說：「那是誰家的女子？」監管收割的僕人回答說：「是那摩押女子，跟隨拿俄米從摩押地回來的。她說：『請你容我跟着收割的人拾取打捆剩下的麥穗。』她從早晨直到如今，除了在屋子裏坐一會兒，常在這裏。」

因此，我想不得不求那幾位弟兄先到你們那裏去，把從前所應許的捐資預備妥當，就顯出你們所捐的是出於樂意，不是出於勉強。「少種的少收，多種的多收」，這話是真的。各人要隨本心所酌定的，不要作難，不要勉強，因為捐得樂意的人是神所喜愛的。神能將各樣的恩惠多多地加給你們，使你們凡事常常充足，能多行各樣善事。如經上所記：他施捨錢財，賙濟貧窮；他的仁義存到永遠。那賜種給撒種的，賜糧給人吃的，必多多加給你們種地的種子，又增添你們仁義的果子；叫你們凡事富足，可以多多施捨，就藉着我們使感謝歸於神。因為辦這供給的事，不但補聖徒的缺乏，而且叫許多人越發感謝神。

有施散的，卻更增添；有吝惜過度的，反致窮乏。好施捨的，必得豐裕；滋潤人的，必得滋潤。

不是要把你的餅分給飢餓的人，將飄流的窮人接到你家中，見赤身的給他衣服遮體，顧恤自己的骨肉而不掩藏嗎？這樣，你的光就必發現如早晨的光；你所得的醫治要速速發明。你的公義必在你前面行；耶和華的榮光必作你的後盾。

我若不容貧寒人得其所願，或叫寡婦眼中失望，或獨自吃我一點食物，孤兒沒有與我同吃；（從幼年時孤兒與我同長，好像父子一樣；我從出母腹就扶助寡婦。）我若見人因無衣死亡，或見窮乏人身無遮蓋；我若不使他因我羊的毛得暖，為我祝福；我若在城門口見有幫助我的，舉手攻擊孤兒；

眷顧貧窮的有福了！他遭難的日子，耶和華必搭救他。耶和華必保全他，使他存活；他必在地上享福。求你不要把他交給仇敵，遂其所願。他病重在榻，耶和華必扶持他；他在病中，你必給他鋪牀。

你心若向飢餓的人發憐憫，使困苦的人得滿足，你的光就必在黑暗中發現；你的幽暗必變如正午。

他施捨錢財，賙濟貧窮；他的仁義存到永遠。他的角必被高舉，大有榮耀。

只要把裏面的施捨給人，凡物於你們就都潔淨了。
