“以下事物，會使你們成為不潔：觸摸動物屍體的，就不潔淨到晚上。拾起牠們的屍體的，就要洗淨自己的衣服，並且不潔淨到晚上。

祭司要洗自己的衣服，並用水洗身，然後才可以進營；但祭司必不潔淨到晚上。那燒牛的人也要用水洗自己的衣服，並用水洗身，也必不潔淨到晚上。要由一個潔淨的人收起母牛的灰，安放在營外潔淨的地方，為以色列會眾留作除污穢的水，這是除罪的。那收起牛灰的人，要洗自己的衣服，必不潔淨到晚上。這要給以色列人和寄居在他們中間的外人，作永遠的定例。

然後在聖潔的地方用水洗身，穿回自己的衣服出來，把自己的燔祭和眾民的燔祭獻上，為自己和眾民贖罪。贖罪祭牲的脂肪，他要焚燒在祭壇上。那送走歸阿撒瀉勒的山羊的人，要洗淨自己的衣服，用水洗身，然後才可以進到營裡。那作贖罪祭的公牛和作贖罪祭的公山羊，牠們的血既然被帶進去為聖所贖罪，牠們的身體就要搬出營外去；牠們的皮、肉和糞都要用火燒掉。那燒祭牲的人要洗淨自己的衣服，用水洗身，然後才可以進營。

哈該又說：“人若因觸著屍體而成為不潔，又觸著這些東西的任何一樣，這就算為不潔嗎？”祭司都回答說：“要算為不潔淨。”
