善于管理自己的家，受儿女的敬重和孝顺。一个人要是不懂得管理自己的家，又怎能照顾上帝的教会呢？

做长老的必须无可指责，只有一位妻子，儿女都信主、没有放荡不羁的行为。

你的两个儿子何弗尼和非尼哈必死在同一天，这就是我言出必行的记号。

锡安的罪人恐惧，不敬虔的人颤抖。他们说：“我们谁能住在烈火中呢？谁能住在永不止息的火焰里呢？”

在耶和华的眼中，这两个青年罪恶深重，因为他们轻视献给耶和华的祭物。

如果有人娶妻，又娶岳母，便是大恶。要把他们三人烧死，使你们杜绝这种败坏之事。

约书亚对亚干说：“你为什么给我们惹祸呢？今天耶和华要降祸给你。”于是，以色列人便拿石头打死了他和他一切的人畜，将其烧毁。

哪个人被指出拿了本该毁灭的东西，哪个人及其所有的东西就要被火焚烧。因为他违背了耶和华的约，在以色列人中做了可耻的事。’”
