  • John 18:1-19
When Jesus had spoken these words, He went away with His disciples across the ravine of the Kidron, where there was a garden which He entered with His disciples. Now Judas, who was betraying Him, also knew the place, because Jesus had often met there with His disciples. So Judas, having obtained the Roman cohort and officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees,* came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons.Jesus therefore, knowing all the things that were coming upon Him, came out into the open and* said to them,“ Whom are you seeking?”They answered Him,“ Jesus the Nazarene.” He* said to them,“ I am He.” And Judas also, who was betraying Him, was standing with them. Now then, when He said to them,“ I am He,” they drew back and fell to the ground. He then asked them again,“ Whom are you seeking?” And they said,“ Jesus the Nazarene.”Jesus answered,“ I told you that I am He; so if you are seeking Me, let these men go on their way.”This took place so that the word which He spoke would be fulfilled:“ Of those whom You have given Me I lost not one.”Then Simon Peter, since he had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s slave, and cut off his right ear; and the slave’s name was Malchus. So Jesus said to Peter,“ Put the sword into the sheath; the cup which the Father has given Me, am I not to drink it?”So the Roman cohort, the commander, and the officers of the Jews arrested Jesus and bound Him,and brought Him to Annas first; for he was the father in law of Caiaphas, who was high priest that year. Now Caiaphas was the one who had advised the Jews that it was in their best interest for one man to die in behalf of the people.Simon Peter was following Jesus, and so was another disciple. Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and he entered with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest, but Peter was standing at the door outside. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the doorkeeper, and brought Peter in.Then the slave woman who was the doorkeeper* said to Peter,“ You are not also one of this Man’s disciples, are you?” He* said,“ I am not.”Now the slaves and the officers were standing there, having made a charcoal fire, for it was cold and they were warming themselves; and Peter was also with them, standing and warming himself. The high priest then questioned Jesus about His disciples, and about His teaching.
  • Psalms 22:1-21
My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Far from my help are the words of my groaning. My God, I cry out by day, but You do not answer; And by night, but I have no rest.Yet You are holy, You who are enthroned upon the praises of Israel. In You our fathers trusted; They trusted and You rescued them.To You they cried out and they fled to safety; In You they trusted and were not disappointed. But I am a worm and not a person, A disgrace of mankind and despised by the people. All who see me deride me; They sneer, they shake their heads, saying,“ Turn him over to the Lord; let Him save him; Let Him rescue him, because He delights in him.”Yet You are He who brought me forth from the womb; You made me trust when upon my mother’s breasts.I was cast upon You from birth; You have been my God from my mother’s womb.Do not be far from me, for trouble is near; For there is no one to help. Many bulls have surrounded me; Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled me.They open their mouths wide at me, As a ravening and roaring lion.I am poured out like water, And all my bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It is melted within me.My strength is dried up like a piece of pottery, And my tongue clings to my jaws; And You lay me in the dust of death. For dogs have surrounded me; A band of evildoers has encompassed me; They pierced my hands and my feet.I can count all my bones. They look, they stare at me;They divide my garments among them, And they cast lots for my clothing. But You, Lord, do not be far away; You who are my help, hurry to my assistance.Save my soul from the sword, My only life from the power of the dog.Save me from the lion’s mouth; From the horns of the wild oxen You answer me.

He shall then skin the burnt offering and cut it into its pieces.
  • Mark 14:1-15
Now the Passover and Festival of Unleavened Bread were two days away; and the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to arrest Him covertly and kill Him;for they were saying,“ Not during the festival, otherwise there will be a riot of the people.”While He was in Bethany at the home of Simon the Leper, He was reclining at the table, and a woman came with an alabaster vial of very expensive perfume of pure nard. She broke the vial and poured the perfume over His head. But there were some indignantly remarking to one another,“ Why has this perfume been wasted? For this perfume could have been sold for over three hundred denarii, and the money given to the poor.” And they were scolding her.But Jesus said,“ Leave her alone! Why are you bothering her? She has done a good deed for Me.For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you want, you can do good to them; but you do not always have Me.She has done what she could; she has anointed My body beforehand for the burial.Truly I say to you, wherever the gospel is preached in the entire world, what this woman has done will also be told in memory of her.”Then Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve, went off to the chief priests in order to betray Him to them. They were delighted when they heard this, and promised to give him money. And he began seeking how to betray Him at an opportune time.On the first day of Unleavened Bread, when the Passover lamb was being sacrificed, His disciples* said to Him,“ Where do You want us to go and prepare for You to eat the Passover?”And He* sent two of His disciples and* said to them,“ Go into the city, and a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you; follow him;and wherever he enters, say to the owner of the house,‘ The Teacher says,“ Where is My guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?” ’And he himself will show you a large upstairs room furnished and ready; prepare for us there.”
