But in the fifth year you may eat its fruit. In this way your harvest will be increased. I am the Lord your God.

If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments so as to carry them out,then I shall give you rains in their season, so that the land will yield its produce and the trees of the field will bear their fruit.

Cast your bread on the surface of the waters, for you will find it after many days.Divide your portion to seven, or even to eight, for you do not know what misfortune may occur on the earth.

“ Is it time for you yourselves to live in your paneled houses while this house remains desolate?”Now then, the Lord of armies says this:“ Consider your ways!You have sown much, only to harvest little; you eat, but there is not enough to be satisfied; you drink, but there is not enough to become drunk; you put on clothing, but there is not enough for anyone to get warm; and the one who earns, earns wages to put into a money bag full of holes.”

‘ Do consider from this day onward, from the twenty fourth day of the ninth month; from the day when the temple of the Lord was founded, consider:Is the seed still in the barn? Even including the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree, it has not produced fruit. Yet from this day on I will bless you.’ ”

“ Would anyone rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say,‘ How have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, the entire nation of you!Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and put Me to the test now in this,” says the Lord of armies,“ if I do not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.

Honor the Lord from your wealth, And from the first of all your produce;Then your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.
