“ You shall not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether one of your brethren or one of the aliens who is in your land within your gates.Each day you shall give him his wages, and not let the sun go down on it, for he is poor and has set his heart on it; lest he cry out against you to the Lord, and it be sin to you.

Diverse weights and diverse measures, They are both alike, an abomination to the Lord.

If I have eaten its fruit without money, Or caused its owners to lose their lives;

Thus says the Lord:“ Execute judgment and righteousness, and deliver the plundered out of the hand of the oppressor. Do no wrong and do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, or the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place.

You know the commandments:‘ Do not commit adultery,’‘ Do not murder,’‘ Do not steal,’‘ Do not bear false witness,’‘ Do not defraud,’‘ Honor your father and your mother.’”

and My wrath will become hot, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.“ If you lend money to any of My people who are poor among you, you shall not be like a moneylender to him; you shall not charge him interest.If you ever take your neighbor’s garment as a pledge, you shall return it to him before the sun goes down.For that is his only covering, it is his garment for his skin. What will he sleep in? And it will be that when he cries to Me, I will hear, for I am gracious.

The people of the land have used oppressions, committed robbery, and mistreated the poor and needy; and they wrongfully oppress the stranger.

If the thief is not found, then the master of the house shall be brought to the judges to see whether he has put his hand into his neighbor’s goods.“ For any kind of trespass, whether it concerns an ox, a donkey, a sheep, or clothing, or for any kind of lost thing which another claims to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whomever the judges condemn shall pay double to his neighbor.

“ Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness And his chambers by injustice, Who uses his neighbor’s service without wages And gives him nothing for his work,

Do not rob the poor because he is poor, Nor oppress the afflicted at the gate;

or if he has found what was lost and lies concerning it, and swears falsely— in any one of these things that a man may do in which he sins:

that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified.

If its owner was with it, he shall not make it good; if it was hired, it came for its hire.

If it is torn to pieces by a beast, then he shall bring it as evidence, and he shall not make good what was torn.

“ You shall neither mistreat a stranger nor oppress him, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.

And he said to them,“ Collect no more than what is appointed for you.”
