You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices.

Do not do what the people of Egypt do. You used to live there. And do not do what the people of Canaan do. I am bringing you into their land. Do not follow their practices.

You shall not do as they do in the land of Egypt, where you lived, and you shall not do as they do in the land of Canaan, to which I am bringing you. You shall not walk in their statutes.

So do not act like the people in Egypt, where you used to live, or like the people of Canaan, where I am taking you. You must not imitate their way of life.

我在你们面前所逐出的国民，你们不可随从他们的风俗。因为他们行了这一切的事，所以我厌恶他们。

使你们从今以后不再随从人的情欲，只顺从上帝的旨意，在世度余下的光阴。因为你们从前随从外邦人的心意，生活在淫荡、情欲、醉酒、荒宴、狂饮和可憎的偶像崇拜中，时候已经够了。在这些事上，他们见你们不与他们同奔放荡无度的路就以为怪，毁谤你们。

那时你要谨慎，在他们从你面前被除灭之后，你不可受引诱随从他们，也不可求问他们的神明，说：‘这些国家怎样事奉他们的神明，我也要照样做。’你不可向耶和华—你的上帝这样做，因为他们向他们的神明做了耶和华所憎恨、所厌恶的一切事，甚至将自己的儿女用火焚烧，献给他们的神明。

她从埃及的时候，就没有离开过淫乱；因为她年轻时，有人与她同寝，抚弄她少女的乳房，和她纵欲行淫。

你们不可那样敬拜耶和华—你们的上帝。

耶和华如此说：“不要效法列国的行为，任凭列国因天象惊惶，你们不要惊惶。万民的习俗是虚空的；偶像不过是从树林中砍来的木头，是匠人用斧头做成的手工。

不要效法这个世界，只要心意更新而变化，叫你们察验何为上帝的善良、纯全、可喜悦的旨意。

所以，不要与他们同伙。从前你们是暗昧的，但如今在主里面是光明的，行事为人要像光明的子女—光明所结的果子就是一切的良善、公义、诚实。总要察验什么是主所喜悦的事。那暗昧无益的事，不可参与，倒要把这种事揭发出来。

反倒与列国相交，学习他们的行为，

“在这一切的事上，你们都不可玷污自己，因为我在你们面前所逐出的列国，在这一切的事上玷污了自己。连地也玷污了，我惩罚那地的罪孽，地就吐出它的居民来。但你们要遵守我的律例典章。这一切可憎恶的事，无论是本地人或寄居在你们中间的外人，都不可以做。在你们之前居住那地的人做了这一切可憎恶的事，地就玷污了。不要让地因你们玷污了它而把你们吐出来，像吐出在你们之前的国一样。无论是谁，若做了这其中一件可憎恶的事，必从百姓中剪除。你们要遵守我的吩咐，免得你们随从那些可憎的习俗，就是在你们之前的人所做的，玷污了自己。我是耶和华—你们的上帝。”
