You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices.

Do not do what the people of Egypt do. You used to live there. And do not do what the people of Canaan do. I am bringing you into their land. Do not follow their practices.

You shall not do as they do in the land of Egypt, where you lived, and you shall not do as they do in the land of Canaan, to which I am bringing you. You shall not walk in their statutes.

So do not act like the people in Egypt, where you used to live, or like the people of Canaan, where I am taking you. You must not imitate their way of life.

你不可跪拜事奉他們的神明，也不可隨從他們的習俗，卻要徹底廢除，完全打碎他們的柱像。

我對他們說，你們各人要拋棄眼中所喜愛的可憎之物，不可用埃及的偶像玷污自己。我是耶和華－你們的神。他們卻悖逆我，不肯聽從我，不拋棄他們眼中所喜愛的可憎之物，離棄埃及的偶像。「我就說，在埃及地，我要把我的憤怒傾倒在他們身上，向他們發盡我的怒氣。

我在你們面前所逐出的國民，你們不可隨從他們的風俗。因為他們行了這一切的事，所以我厭惡他們。

使你們從今以後不再隨從人的情慾，只順從神的旨意，在世度餘下的光陰。因為你們從前隨從外邦人的心意，生活在淫蕩、情慾、醉酒、荒宴、狂飲和可憎的偶像崇拜中，時候已經夠了。在這些事上，他們見你們不與他們同奔放蕩無度的路就以為怪，毀謗你們。

那時你要謹慎，在他們從你面前被除滅之後，你不可受引誘隨從他們，也不可求問他們的神明，說：『這些國家怎樣事奉他們的神明，我也要照樣做。』你不可向耶和華－你的神這樣做，因為他們向他們的神明做了耶和華所憎恨、所厭惡的一切事，甚至將自己的兒女用火焚燒，獻給他們的神明。

她從埃及的時候，就沒有離開過淫亂；因為她年輕時，有人與她同寢，撫弄她少女的乳房，和她縱慾行淫。

你們不可那樣敬拜耶和華－你們的神。

耶和華如此說：「不要效法列國的行為，任憑列國因天象驚惶，你們不要驚惶。萬民的習俗是虛空的；偶像不過是從樹林中砍來的木頭，是匠人用斧頭做成的手工。

不要效法這個世界，只要心意更新而變化，叫你們察驗何為神的善良、純全、可喜悅的旨意。

所以，不要與他們同夥。從前你們是暗昧的，但如今在主裏面是光明的，行事為人要像光明的子女－光明所結的果子就是一切的良善、公義、誠實。總要察驗甚麼是主所喜悅的事。那暗昧無益的事，不可參與，倒要把這種事揭發出來。

反倒與列國相交，學習他們的行為，

「在這一切的事上，你們都不可玷污自己，因為我在你們面前所逐出的列國，在這一切的事上玷污了自己。連地也玷污了，我懲罰那地的罪孽，地就吐出它的居民來。但你們要遵守我的律例典章。這一切可憎惡的事，無論是本地人或寄居在你們中間的外人，都不可以做。在你們之前居住那地的人做了這一切可憎惡的事，地就玷污了。不要讓地因你們玷污了它而把你們吐出來，像吐出在你們之前的國一樣。無論是誰，若做了這其中一件可憎惡的事，必從百姓中剪除。你們要遵守我的吩咐，免得你們隨從那些可憎的習俗，就是在你們之前的人所做的，玷污了自己。我是耶和華－你們的神。」
