You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices.

Do not do what the people of Egypt do. You used to live there. And do not do what the people of Canaan do. I am bringing you into their land. Do not follow their practices.

You shall not do as they do in the land of Egypt, where you lived, and you shall not do as they do in the land of Canaan, to which I am bringing you. You shall not walk in their statutes.

So do not act like the people in Egypt, where you used to live, or like the people of Canaan, where I am taking you. You must not imitate their way of life.

不可叩拜他们的神明，不可供奉它们，也不可效法他们的行为，要彻底拆毁神像，打碎他们的神柱。

我告诉他们要除掉他们祭拜的可憎之物，不可让埃及的偶像玷污自己，因为我是他们的上帝耶和华。“‘然而，他们却背叛我，不听我的话，没有除去他们祭拜的可憎之物和埃及的偶像。我本想在埃及向他们发烈怒，倾倒我的怒火，

我要在你们面前赶走那片土地上的各族，你们不要随从他们的习俗。他们做了以上那些事，所以我厌恶他们。

可以在今后的生活中不再随从人的私欲，只服从上帝的旨意。你们从前长期沉溺于异教徒的嗜好——淫乱、纵欲、醉酒、狂欢、宴乐和可憎的偶像崇拜。如今你们不再和他们同流合污，他们觉得奇怪，就用恶言毁谤你们。

那时，你们要谨慎，不可受诱惑去效法他们的习俗，不可打听他们神明的事，说，‘这些民族怎样供奉他们的神明呢？我也要效法。’你们不可按照他们的方式敬拜你们的上帝耶和华。他们祭拜自己神明的种种行为令耶和华憎恶，他们甚至焚烧自己的儿女献给他们的神明。

她没有放弃在埃及的淫荡行为，她年轻的时候就任人玩弄、发泄情欲。

你们不可按照他们的方式敬拜你们的上帝耶和华。

耶和华说：“不要效法列国的行为。他们被天象吓倒，你们却不要因天象而害怕。他们信奉的毫无价值，他们从林中砍一棵树，工匠用木头雕刻偶像，

你们不可追随世界的潮流，要随着思想的不断更新而改变，这样就能明辨上帝的旨意，知道什么是良善、纯全、蒙祂悦纳的。

所以，你们不要与他们同流合污。你们从前活在黑暗中，现在既然活在主的光明中，行事为人就该像光明的儿女。光明总是结出良善、公义和真理的果子。你们要察验什么是主所喜悦的事，不可参与那些黑暗无益的事，反要揭发斥责，

反倒与他们混居，仿效他们的习俗，

“你们不可做这些事玷污自己。因为我要在你们面前赶走的各国正是因为这些行为而玷污了自己。他们居住的土地也都被玷污了，所以我因他们的罪恶而惩罚那片土地，我要使那片土地吐出他们。你们必须遵守我的律例和典章。不论你们还是寄居在你们中间的外族人，都不可做这些可憎之事。因为在你们之前居住在那里的人做了这些可憎之事，玷污了那片土地。如果你们玷污了那片土地，它也会像吐出从前的居民一样把你们吐出去。凡做这些可憎之事的，要将他从民中铲除。你们要遵守我的命令，不要效法那片土地上居民的恶俗，以致玷污自己。我是你们的上帝耶和华。”
