“ Do not defile yourselves by any of these practices, for the nations I am driving out before you have defiled themselves by all these things.

勿緣斯事自辱厥躬、我於爾前所逐之民、行此自玷、

異邦人行此、自取污衊、故我逐之、爾勿則效、

爾毋行此沾污己身、我於爾前所將逐之諸族皆行之、自取沾污、

“‘ Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled.

“‘ Do not make yourselves“ unclean” in any of these ways. That is how other nations became“ unclean.” So I am going to drive those nations out of the land to make room for you.

“ Do not make yourselves unclean by any of these things, for by all these the nations I am driving out before you have become unclean,

“ Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, for the people I am driving out before you have defiled themselves in all these ways.

‘ Do not defile yourselves by any of these things; for by all these things the nations which I am driving out from you have become defiled.

‘ Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for by all these the nations are defiled, which I am casting out before you.

Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out from before you;

“ Do not defile yourselves by any of these practices, for the nations I am driving out before you have defiled themselves by all these things.

“‘ Do not defile yourselves with any of these things, for the nations which I am about to drive out before you have been defiled with all these things.

“‘ Don’t defile yourselves in any of these things; for in all these the nations which I am casting out before you were defiled.

Everyone who does these acts is detestable to the LORD, and the LORD your God is driving out the nations before you because of these detestable acts.

You must keep my instruction to not do any of the detestable customs that were practiced before you, so that you do not defile yourselves by them; I am the LORD your God.”

You must not do the same to the LORD your God, because they practice every detestable act, which the LORD hates, for their gods. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods.

But what comes out of the mouth comes from the heart, and this defiles a person.For from the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual immoralities, thefts, false testimonies, slander.These are the things that defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile a person.”

So I sent you all my servants the prophets time and time again, saying,‘ Don’t commit this detestable action that I hate.’

Do not follow the practices of the land of Egypt, where you used to live, or follow the practices of the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. You must not follow their customs.

“ You are to keep all my statutes and all my ordinances, and do them, so that the land where I am bringing you to live will not vomit you out.You must not follow the statutes of the nations I am driving out before you, for they did all these things, and I abhorred them.

If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is holy, and that is what you are.

“ You are not to come near any close relative for sexual intercourse; I am the LORD.You are not to violate the intimacy that belongs to your father and mother. She is your mother; you must not have sexual intercourse with her.You are not to have sex with your father’s wife; she is your father’s family.You are not to have sexual intercourse with your sister, either your father’s daughter or your mother’s, whether born at home or born elsewhere. You are not to have sex with her.You are not to have sexual intercourse with your son’s daughter or your daughter’s daughter, for they are your family.You are not to have sexual intercourse with your father’s wife’s daughter, who is adopted by your father; she is your sister.You are not to have sexual intercourse with your father’s sister; she is your father’s close relative.You are not to have sexual intercourse with your mother’s sister, for she is your mother’s close relative.You are not to violate the intimacy that belongs to your father’s brother by approaching his wife to have sexual intercourse; she is your aunt.You are not to have sexual intercourse with your daughter-in-law. She is your son’s wife; you are not to have sex with her.You are not to have sexual intercourse with your brother’s wife; she is your brother’s family.You are not to have sexual intercourse with a woman and her daughter. You are not to marry her son’s daughter or her daughter’s daughter and have sex with her. They are close relatives; it is depraved.You are not to marry a woman as a rival to her sister and have sexual intercourse with her during her sister’s lifetime.“ You are not to approach a woman during her menstrual impurity to have sexual intercourse with her.You are not to have sexual intercourse with your neighbor’s wife, defiling yourself with her.“ You are not to sacrifice any of your children in the fire to Molech. Do not profane the name of your God; I am the LORD.You are not to sleep with a man as with a woman; it is detestable.You are not to have sexual intercourse with any animal, defiling yourself with it; a woman is not to present herself to an animal to mate with it; it is a perversion.

For Moses said: Honor your father and your mother; and Whoever speaks evil of father or mother must be put to death.But you say,‘ If anyone tells his father or mother: Whatever benefit you might have received from me is corban’”( that is, an offering devoted to God),“ you no longer let him do anything for his father or mother.You nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many other similar things.”Summoning the crowd again, he told them,“ Listen to me, all of you, and understand:Nothing that goes into a person from outside can defile him but the things that come out of a person are what defile him.”
