“ Give them this command as well. If any native Israelite or foreigner living among you offers a burnt offering or a sacrifice

“ Say to them:‘ Any Israelite or any foreigner residing among them who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice

“ Tell them,‘ Suppose someone offers a burnt offering or sacrifice. It does not matter whether they are an Israelite or an outsider.

“ And you shall say to them, Any one of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who sojourn among them, who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice

“ Say to them: Anyone from the house of Israel or from the aliens who reside among them who offers a burnt offering or a sacrifice

“ Then you shall say to them,‘ Anyone from the house of Israel, or from the strangers who reside among them, who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice,

“ Also you shall say to them:‘ Whatever man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell among you, who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice,

And thou shalt say unto them, Whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among them, that offereth a burnt- offering or sacrifice,

“ Say to them: Anyone from the house of Israel or from the foreigners who live among them who offers a burnt offering or a sacrifice

And thou shalt say unto them, Whatsoever man[ there be] of the house of Israel, or of the strangers which sojourn among you, that offereth a burnt offering or sacrifice,

“ You are to say to them:‘ Any man from the house of Israel or from the foreigners who reside in their midst, who offers a burnt offering or a sacrifice

“ You shall say to them,‘ Any man there is of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who live as foreigners among them, who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice,

“ Give the following instructions to the people of Israel. When you present an animal as an offering to the Lord, you may take it from your herd of cattle or your flock of sheep and goats.“ If the animal you present as a burnt offering is from the herd, it must be a male with no defects. Bring it to the entrance of the Tabernacle so you may be accepted by the Lord.

Then Elijah called to the people,“ Come over here!” They all crowded around him as he repaired the altar of the Lord that had been torn down.He took twelve stones, one to represent each of the tribes of Israel,and he used the stones to rebuild the altar in the name of the Lord. Then he dug a trench around the altar large enough to hold about three gallons.He piled wood on the altar, cut the bull into pieces, and laid the pieces on the wood. Then he said,“ Fill four large jars with water, and pour the water over the offering and the wood.”After they had done this, he said,“ Do the same thing again!” And when they were finished, he said,“ Now do it a third time!” So they did as he said,and the water ran around the altar and even filled the trench.At the usual time for offering the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet walked up to the altar and prayed,“ O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, prove today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant. Prove that I have done all this at your command.O Lord, answer me! Answer me so these people will know that you, O Lord, are God and that you have brought them back to yourself.”Immediately the fire of the Lord flashed down from heaven and burned up the young bull, the wood, the stones, and the dust. It even licked up all the water in the trench!

So Samuel took a young lamb and offered it to the Lord as a whole burnt offering. He pleaded with the Lord to help Israel, and the Lord answered him.

instead of bringing it to the entrance of the Tabernacle to present it as an offering to the Lord, that person will be as guilty as a murderer. Such a person has shed blood and will be cut off from the community.

Then go down to Gilgal ahead of me. I will join you there to sacrifice burnt offerings and peace offerings. You must wait for seven days until I arrive and give you further instructions.”

Then build an altar to the Lord your God here on this hilltop sanctuary, laying the stones carefully. Sacrifice the bull as a burnt offering on the altar, using as fuel the wood of the Asherah pole you cut down.”

“ And if any native Israelite or foreigner living among you eats or drinks blood in any form, I will turn against that person and cut him off from the community of your people,

David built an altar there to the Lord and sacrificed burnt offerings and peace offerings. And the Lord answered his prayer for the land, and the plague on Israel was stopped.

But my name is honored by people of other nations from morning till night. All around the world they offer sweet incense and pure offerings in honor of my name. For my name is great among the nations,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

But Samuel asked,“ How can I do that? If Saul hears about it, he will kill me.”“ Take a heifer with you,” the Lord replied,“ and say that you have come to make a sacrifice to the Lord.
