He must take a bath in the holy area. And he must put on his regular clothes. Then he will come out and sacrifice the burnt offering for himself. He will also sacrifice the burnt offering for the people. That will pay for his own sin and the people’s sin.

They are only a matter of food and drink and various ceremonial washings— external regulations applying until the time of the new order.

Then bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the tent of meeting and wash them with water.Take the garments and dress Aaron with the tunic, the robe of the ephod, the ephod itself and the breastpiece. Fasten the ephod on him by its skillfully woven waistband.

These are the garments they are to make: a breastpiece, an ephod, a robe, a woven tunic, a turban and a sash. They are to make these sacred garments for your brother Aaron and his sons, so they may serve me as priests.Have them use gold, and blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and fine linen.“ Make the ephod of gold, and of blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and of finely twisted linen— the work of skilled hands.It is to have two shoulder pieces attached to two of its corners, so it can be fastened.Its skillfully woven waistband is to be like it— of one piece with the ephod and made with gold, and with blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and with finely twisted linen.“ Take two onyx stones and engrave on them the names of the sons of Israelin the order of their birth— six names on one stone and the remaining six on the other.Engrave the names of the sons of Israel on the two stones the way a gem cutter engraves a seal. Then mount the stones in gold filigree settingsand fasten them on the shoulder pieces of the ephod as memorial stones for the sons of Israel. Aaron is to bear the names on his shoulders as a memorial before the Lord.Make gold filigree settingsand two braided chains of pure gold, like a rope, and attach the chains to the settings.

The one who touches any such thing will be unclean till evening. He must not eat any of the sacred offerings unless he has bathed himself with water.

Then Moses brought Aaron and his sons forward and washed them with water.He put the tunic on Aaron, tied the sash around him, clothed him with the robe and put the ephod on him. He also fastened the ephod with a decorative waistband, which he tied around him.He placed the breastpiece on him and put the Urim and Thummim in the breastpiece.Then he placed the turban on Aaron’s head and set the gold plate, the sacred emblem, on the front of it, as the Lord commanded Moses.

On the seventh day they must shave off all their hair; they must shave their head, their beard, their eyebrows and the rest of their hair. They must wash their clothes and bathe themselves with water, and they will be clean.
