He is to lay both hands on the head of the live goat and confess over it all the wickedness and rebellion of the Israelites— all their sins— and put them on the goat’s head. He shall send the goat away into the wilderness in the care of someone appointed for the task.

He must place both of his hands on its head. While he does that, he must tell me about all the sins the Israelites have committed. He must tell me about all their evil acts and the times they did not obey me. In that way he puts their sins on the goat’s head. Then he will send the goat away into the desert. The goat will be led away by a man appointed to do it.

And Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over it all the iniquities of the people of Israel, and all their transgressions, all their sins. And he shall put them on the head of the goat and send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who is in readiness.

He will lay both of his hands on the goat’s head and confess over it all the wickedness, rebellion, and sins of the people of Israel. In this way, he will transfer the people’s sins to the head of the goat. Then a man specially chosen for the task will drive the goat into the wilderness.

遮掩自己罪過的、必不能順利；承認罪過並離棄的、必蒙憐憫。

我願你的眼睜開着，你的耳傾聽着，來聽你僕人的祈禱、就是我今天、乃至於晝夜、在你面前、為你僕人、以色列人、所禱告的，又為以色列人、我們向你所犯的罪；我和我父的家所犯的罪，所向你承認的。我們向你行了很腐敗的事，沒有遵守你僕人摩西所吩咐的誡命、律例、和典章。

以斯拉禱告、認罪、哭泣、俯伏在上帝殿前的時候，以色列中有很大羣的人男男女女、以及孩童、都集合了來到以斯拉那裏；眾民都哭泣，哭得很悲痛。

心裏信就得以稱義，口裏承認就可以得救。

『你要把那公牛牽到會棚前來獻；亞倫和他兒子們要按手在那公牛頭上。

我便以禁食麻布爐灰咬緊牙根而向主上帝尋求、禱告、懇求。我向永恆主我的上帝祈禱認罪，說：『哦，主啊，至大、至可畏懼的上帝啊，向愛你守你誡命的人守約守堅愛的啊，我們犯罪作孽，行惡背叛，偏離了你的誡命典章；我們也沒有聽從你僕人、眾神言人們、那些奉你名向我們的王和首領跟父老及國中眾民說了話的人。主啊，你是對的，是我們滿面蒙羞，正如今日一樣；慚愧的是猶大人，是耶路撒冷居民，是以色列眾人、無論近處或遠處、在你趕逐他們到之各地的，都因他們對你表現了不忠實。永恆主啊，是我們滿臉蒙羞：慚愧的是我們的王、和首領跟父老，因為我們犯罪得罪了你。但是憐憫人赦免人的乃是主我們的上帝；因為我們背叛了他；我們沒有聽永恆主我們的上帝的聲音，而遵行他的指示，就是他由他僕人神言人們經手所擺在我們面前的。以色列眾人都越犯了你的律法而偏行，不聽你的聲音，以致在上帝僕人摩西律法書上所寫的咒詛和誓言都傾倒在我們身上，因為我們犯罪得罪了上帝。他降大災禍於我們身上而實行了他的話、就是他所說來警戒我們，也警戒那些管理我們的官長的：他所施的大災禍是在普天之下未曾行過、像在耶路撒冷所行過的那樣。這一切災禍都照摩西律法書上所寫的臨到我們身上了，而我們卻沒有求永恆主我們的上帝的情面，而使我們回頭離開我們的罪孽，而留心於你的真理。因此永恆主時刻準備着把這災禍、降到我們身上來，因為永恆主我們的上帝在他所行的事上都是對的，而我們卻沒有聽他的聲音。如今主我們的上帝啊，你曾用大力的手把你的子民從埃及地領出來，而為你自己立了名，正如今日一樣；唉，我們犯了罪；我們是邪惡的。主啊，求你按你所顯的義氣使你的怒氣烈怒轉離你的城耶路撒冷，你的聖山；因為為了我們的罪和我們列祖的罪孽之緣故、耶路撒冷和你的子民已成了我們四圍眾人所羞辱的了。如今我們的上帝啊，聽你僕人的禱告和懇求哦！主啊，為了你自己的緣故使你的臉光照你這荒涼的聖地吧！我的上帝啊，傾耳以聽，睜眼而看我們荒涼之地和這稱為你名下的城哦；因為我們把懇求的話呈到你面前、並不是靠着我們自己的義，乃是靠着你的大憐憫。主啊，聽哦！主啊，赦免哦！主啊，留心聽而實行哦！為了你自己的緣故、別拖延哦，我的上帝啊！因為這城和這人民都是稱為你名下的啊。』我還在說話、還在禱告、承認我的罪、和我本國人民以色列的罪；我還在為我的上帝的聖山把懇求的話呈到我的上帝面前；

他在這些事的一件上覺得有了罪責時，就要承認他所犯的罪，

『他們若承認自己的罪愆、和他們祖宗的罪愆、就是他們的不忠實、對我不忠實、並且行事跟我作對。

他要按手在燔祭牲的頭上、為自己行除罪禮，便蒙悅納。

那天四分之一他們立在他們所站的地方，誦讀永恆主他們的上帝的律法書；又四分之一他們是認罪，敬拜永恆主他們的上帝。耶書亞、巴尼、甲篾、示巴尼、布尼、示利比、巴尼、基拿尼、立在利未人的臺階上，向永恆主他們的上帝大聲哀呼。利未人耶書亞、甲篾、巴尼、哈沙尼、示利比、荷第雅、示巴尼、毘他希雅說：『你們要站立起來，祝頌永恆主你們的上帝直到永永遠遠。永恆主啊、願你榮耀之名、被尊為至高超乎一切祝頌和稱讚的、永受祝頌。
