耶和華就厭棄以色列所有的後裔，使他們受苦，把他們交在搶奪他們的人手中，直到他把他們從自己面前趕出去。當他使以色列從大衛家分離出來的時候，他們立尼八的兒子耶羅波安作王。耶羅波安引誘以色列不隨從耶和華，陷入大罪中。以色列人行耶羅波安所犯的一切罪，總不離開，以致耶和華把他們從自己面前趕出去，正如他藉他僕人眾先知所說的。這樣，以色列人從自己的土地被擄到亞述，直到今日。

王就大怒，發兵除滅那些兇手，燒燬他們的城。

那又怎麼說呢？以色列人所尋求的，他們沒有得着。但是蒙揀選的人得着了，其餘的人卻成了頑梗不化的。如經上所記：「神給他們昏沉的靈，眼睛看不見，耳朵聽不到，直到今日。」大衛也說：「願他們的宴席變為羅網，變為陷阱，變為絆腳石，作他們的報應。願他們的眼睛昏花，看不見；願你時常彎下他們的腰。」那麼，我再問，他們失足是要他們跌倒嗎？絕對不是！因他們的過犯，救恩反而臨到外邦人，要激起他們嫉妒的心。

再從其中取一些扔在火裏，在火中焚燒；必有火從其中出來燒盡以色列全家。

耶穌回應他們說：「你們不是看見這一切嗎？我實在告訴你們，這裏將沒有一塊石頭會留在另一塊石頭上，而不被拆毀的。」

他們毀壞巴力的柱像，拆毀了巴力廟當廁所，直到今日。

城被攻破，士兵全都在夜間從靠近王的花園、兩城牆中間的門逃跑。迦勒底人正在四圍攻城，王就往亞拉巴逃去。迦勒底的軍隊追趕王，在耶利哥的平原追上他；他的全軍都離開他潰散了。迦勒底人就拿住王，帶他到利比拉的巴比倫王那裏；他們就判他的罪。他們在西底家眼前殺了他的兒女，挖了西底家的眼睛，用銅鏈鎖着他，帶到巴比倫去。巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒十九年五月初七，巴比倫王的臣僕尼布撒拉旦護衛長進入耶路撒冷，他焚燒了耶和華的殿、王宮和耶路撒冷一切的房屋；用火焚燒所有大戶人家的房屋。跟從護衛長的迦勒底全軍拆毀了耶路撒冷四圍的城牆。那時尼布撒拉旦護衛長將城裏剩下的百姓和那些投降巴比倫王的人，以及其餘的眾人，都擄去了。但護衛長留下一些當地最窮的人，叫他們修整葡萄園，耕種田地。

只是殿外的院子不用量，因為這是要給外邦人的；他們將踐踏聖城四十二個月。
