七月，王室后裔以利沙玛的孙子、尼探雅的儿子以实玛利带着十个人在米斯巴刺杀了基大利以及跟他一起的犹大人和迦勒底人。因为害怕迦勒底人报复，犹大众人不论贵贱，都和众将领一起逃往埃及。

于是，耶和华弃绝了以色列全族，使他们饱尝痛苦，任人宰割，直至把他们从自己眼前赶走。祂使以色列从大卫家分裂出来，以色列人便拥立尼八的儿子耶罗波安为王。耶罗波安诱使以色列人远离耶和华，使他们犯了大罪。以色列人沉溺于耶罗波安所犯的一切罪中，始终不肯回头，直到耶和华把他们从自己眼前赶走，正如祂借自己的仆人——众先知对他们的警告。这样，以色列人被掳到亚述，至今仍住在那里。

王大怒，派军队去剿灭凶手，烧毁他们的城。

他拆除丘坛，砸碎神柱，砍倒亚舍拉神像，打碎摩西造的铜蛇，因为当时以色列人仍向铜蛇烧香，称之为尼忽士旦。

这该怎么说呢？以色列人努力追求，却一无所得，只有蒙拣选的人得到了，其他的人都变得顽固不化。正如圣经上说：“上帝使他们至今心智昏迷，眼睛看不见，耳朵听不到。”大卫也说：“愿他们的宴席成为网罗、陷阱、绊脚石，给他们带来报应；愿他们眼目昏暗，无法看见，永远弯腰驼背。”那么，以色列人一失足就再也爬不起来了吗？当然不是！恰好相反，因他们的过犯，救恩临到了外族人，使他们心生嫉妒。

再从中取出几根丢在火里焚烧，必有火从这里燃起，蔓延到整个以色列。”

放火焚烧耶和华的殿、王宫及城内所有的房屋。他烧毁了所有重要建筑。

“然而，如果你们及你们的子孙离弃我，不守我的诫命和律例，去供奉、祭拜别的神明，我必把以色列人从我赐给他们的土地上铲除，并离弃我为自己的名而使之圣洁的这殿，使以色列人在万民中成为笑柄，被人嘲讽。这殿虽然宏伟，但将来经过的人必惊讶，讥笑说，‘耶和华为什么这样对待这地方和这殿呢？’人们会回答，‘因为他们背弃曾领他们祖先离开埃及的耶和华——他们的上帝，去追随、祭拜、供奉别的神明，所以耶和华把这一切灾祸降在他们身上。’”

耶稣对他们说：“你们看见这殿宇了吗？我实在告诉你们，将来它要被完全拆毁，在这里找不到两块叠在一起的石头。”

他们摧毁了巴力的神柱和庙，把庙当作厕所，至今未变。

城被攻破，城里的所有士兵便在夜间穿过御花园，从两城墙中间的门逃往亚拉巴。当时迦勒底人仍四面包围着城。迦勒底军队追赶西底迦，在耶利哥平原追上了他，他的军队都四散而逃。迦勒底人擒住西底迦，把他押到利比拉见巴比伦王，在那里审判他。巴比伦王在西底迦面前杀了他的众子，又剜去他的双眼，把他用铜链锁着押往巴比伦。巴比伦王尼布甲尼撒执政第十九年五月七日，他的臣仆——护卫长尼布撒拉旦来到耶路撒冷，放火焚烧耶和华的殿、王宫及城内所有的房屋。他烧毁了所有重要建筑。他率领的迦勒底军队拆毁了耶路撒冷四围的城墙。护卫长尼布撒拉旦掳去城里剩下的百姓、投降巴比伦王的人以及其他人，只留下一些最贫穷的人，让他们照料葡萄园、耕种田地。

你不用量圣殿的外院，因为这部分已经给了外族人，他们要践踏圣城四十二个月。
