在你的污穢中有淫蕩那大罪惡極。因為我要潔淨你，而你卻不潔除你的污穢，那麼、非等到我平息了我向你發的烈怒，你是再也不能潔淨的了。

這些人是你們愛席上的污點；在宴會時只顧牧養自己，毫無畏懼！嘿，沒有水份的雲，被風飄蕩着！深秋時沒有果子的樹，死了又死，連根都拔出來！

倘若他們既因認識我們的主、救主耶穌基督、而逃脫了世俗的染污，又在其中被纏住被制勝着，那麼他們末後的景況就比先前的更壞了。

『狗轉過身來，喫自己所嘔吐的』；『豬洗了身，又去污泥裏打滾！』這真實的俗語所說的、已在這些人身上得證實了。

他們都是悖逆中最悖逆的，經常來來往往、搬弄是非，簡直是銅是鐵，都是腐化敗壞。風箱猛烈地吹，鉛在火中銷熔；他們煉了又煉，終屬徒然；因為壞的還未提煉開來。人必稱他們為被棄絕的銀渣，因為永恆主棄掉了他們。』

因為人既儘一次蒙了光照，又嘗過屬天之白白的恩，而有分於聖靈，嘗過上帝之話語多麼美好，又嘗過來世之能力，若背離了正道，要叫他們再復新而悔改、是不可能的，因為他們已在自己身上把上帝的兒子重釘十字架，使他公然被羞辱了。田地吸收屢次下在地上的雨水，產生着青菜、對地之所為而被耕種的人有了用處，就從上帝享受祝福；但若生出荊棘和蒺藜，就不中用，近於受咒詛；其結局乃是被焚燒。
