You may not eat the meat of these animals or even touch their carcasses. They are ceremonially unclean for you.

You must not eat their meat or touch their carcasses; they are unclean for you.

You must not eat the meat of those animals. You must not even touch their dead bodies. They are“ unclean” for you.

You shall not eat any of their flesh, and you shall not touch their carcasses; they are unclean to you.

For that old system deals only with food and drink and various cleansing ceremonies— physical regulations that were in effect only until a better system could be established.

“ Or suppose you unknowingly touch something that is ceremonially unclean, such as the carcass of an unclean animal. When you realize what you have done, you must admit your defilement and your guilt. This is true whether it is a wild animal, a domestic animal, or an animal that scurries along the ground.

You may no longer stay here in the Lord’s land. Instead, you will return to Egypt, and in Assyria you will eat food that is ceremonially unclean.

Get out! Get out and leave your captivity, where everything you touch is unclean. Get out of there and purify yourselves, you who carry home the sacred objects of the Lord.

These are what defile you. Eating with unwashed hands will never defile you.”

They noticed that some of his disciples failed to follow the Jewish ritual of hand washing before eating.

I know and am convinced on the authority of the Lord Jesus that no food, in and of itself, is wrong to eat. But if someone believes it is wrong, then for that person it is wrong.And if another believer is distressed by what you eat, you are not acting in love if you eat it. Don’t let your eating ruin someone for whom Christ died.Then you will not be criticized for doing something you believe is good.For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Don’t participate in the things these people do.

Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord. Don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you.

You must abstain from eating food offered to idols, from consuming blood or the meat of strangled animals, and from sexual immorality. If you do this, you will do well. Farewell.”

“ Don’t handle! Don’t taste! Don’t touch!”?Such rules are mere human teachings about things that deteriorate as we use them.These rules may seem wise because they require strong devotion, pious self denial, and severe bodily discipline. But they provide no help in conquering a person’s evil desires.

Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them.

Peter told them,“ You know it is against our laws for a Jewish man to enter a Gentile home like this or to associate with you. But God has shown me that I should no longer think of anyone as impure or unclean.

It’s true that we can’t win God’s approval by what we eat. We don’t lose anything if we don’t eat it, and we don’t gain anything if we do.

and he was hungry. But while a meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance.He saw the sky open, and something like a large sheet was let down by its four corners.In the sheet were all sorts of animals, reptiles, and birds.Then a voice said to him,“ Get up, Peter; kill and eat them.”“ No, Lord,” Peter declared.“ I have never eaten anything that our Jewish laws have declared impure and unclean.”But the voice spoke again:“ Do not call something unclean if God has made it clean.”

It’s not what goes into your body that defiles you; you are defiled by what comes from your heart.”

It’s not what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth.”

So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths.

“ Don’t you understand either?” he asked.“ Can’t you see that the food you put into your body cannot defile you?

It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything else if it might cause another believer to stumble.
