And the pig, though it has a divided hoof, does not chew the cud; it is unclean for you.

Pigs have hooves that are separated completely in two. But they do not chew the cud. So they are“ unclean” for you.

And the pig, because it parts the hoof and is cloven-footed but does not chew the cud, is unclean to you.

「至於那些任意妄為、以行可憎之事為樂、宰牛就像殺人、獻羊羔就像打斷狗頸、獻穀物就像獻豬血、燒香就像頌讚偶像的人，

耶和華說：「那些奉獻自己、潔淨自己的人一個接一個進園中祭拜假神，又吃豬肉、老鼠及其他可憎之物，他們必一同滅亡。

坐在墳場裡，宿在隱秘處。他們吃豬肉，用不潔之物做湯，

你們也不可吃豬，因為豬雖蹄子分瓣但不反芻，是不潔淨的。你們不可吃這些動物的肉，也不可摸牠們的屍體。

他們口出狂言，空話連篇，以肉體的邪情私慾為餌，誘惑那些剛剛擺脫了荒謬生活的人。他們應許那些人可以得自由，而自己卻做罪惡的奴隸，因為人被什麼制伏，就被什麼奴役。如果他們藉著認識我們的主和救主耶穌基督，已經擺脫了世俗的污穢，但後來又被這些事纏住、俘虜了，他們的處境會比以前更糟糕。他們明知道正路，卻背棄了傳給他們的神聖誡命，這樣倒不如不知道的好。俗語說得好：「狗轉過身來，吃自己所吐的；豬洗乾淨了，又回到污泥裡去打滾。」這些話正好用在他們身上。

只好投靠一個當地人。那人派他到田裡去放豬，

「不要把聖物給狗，免得狗轉過頭來咬你們，也不要把珍珠丟在豬前，免得豬踐踏了珍珠。

於是那群鬼便離開那人，進入豬群。那群豬就一路奔下陡坡，衝進湖裡淹死了。
