可是，凡是聽了我這些話而不實行的人，就好比一個愚拙的人把自己的房子建在沙灘上。

又從律法中受教，明白神的旨意，也能分辨是非；又深信自己是瞎子的領路人，是在黑暗中人的光，是愚妄人的導師，是小孩子的教師，擁有著律法上知識和真理的規範，那麼，你這教導別人的，難道不教導自己嗎？你這宣講不可偷竊的，難道自己還偷竊嗎？你這說不可通姦的，難道自己還通姦嗎？你這憎惡偶像的，難道自己還偷取廟裡的東西嗎？你這以律法誇耀的，難道自己還違犯律法侮辱神嗎？事實上，正如經上所記：「因你們的緣故，神的名在外邦人中受到褻瀆。」

有敬神的外表，卻否定敬神的實質；這樣的人你要避開。

其實我過去再三地告訴你們，而現在又流著眼淚告訴你們：有許多人的行事為人，是基督十字架的仇敵。他們的結局就是滅亡；他們的神就是自己的私慾；他們的榮耀在自己的羞恥之中；他們所思想的都是地上的事。

他們聲稱認識神，卻在行為上否認他。他們是可憎惡的、悖逆的，在任何美善的工作上都經不起考驗。
