“‘ These are the birds you are to regard as unclean and not eat because they are unclean: the eagle, the vulture, the black vulture,

“‘ Here are the birds you must treat as“ unclean.” Do not eat them because they are“ unclean.” The birds include eagles, vultures and black vultures.

“ And these you shall detest among the birds; they shall not be eaten; they are detestable: the eagle, the bearded vulture, the black vulture,

“ These are the birds that are detestable to you. You must never eat them: the griffon vulture, the bearded vulture, the black vulture,

“ You are to abhor these birds. They must not be eaten because they are abhorrent: eagles, bearded vultures, Egyptian vultures,

‘ Moreover, these you shall detest among the birds; they are detestable, not to be eaten: the eagle, the vulture, and the buzzard,

Even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting;being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, malice; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil habits, secret slanderers,backbiters, hateful to God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, unforgiving, unmerciful;who, knowing the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but also approve of those who practice them.

“ Put the trumpet to your lips! Something like an eagle is over Yahweh’s house, because they have broken my covenant, and rebelled against my law.

But these are they of which you shall not eat: the eagle, the vulture, the osprey,the red kite, the falcon, the kite after its kind,every raven after its kind,the ostrich, the owl, the seagull, the hawk after its kind,the little owl, the great owl, the horned owl,the pelican, the vulture, the cormorant,the stork, the heron after its kind, the hoopoe, and the bat.All winged creeping things are unclean to you. They shall not be eaten.Of all clean birds you may eat.

Their horses also are swifter than leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves. Their horsemen press proudly on. Yes, their horsemen come from afar. They fly as an eagle that hurries to devour.

Is it at your command that the eagle mounts up, and makes his nest on high?On the cliff he dwells, and makes his home, on the point of the cliff, and the stronghold.From there he spies out the prey. His eyes see it afar off.His young ones also suck up blood. Where the slain are, there he is.”

That path no bird of prey knows, neither has the falcon’s eye seen it.

Behold, he will come up as clouds, and his chariots will be as the whirlwind. His horses are swifter than eagles. Woe to us! For we are ruined.

For we were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

For wherever the carcass is, that is where the vultures gather together.

For Yahweh says:“ Behold, he will fly as an eagle, and will spread out his wings against Moab.

Who provides for the raven his prey, when his young ones cry to God, and wander for lack of food?

“ For my people are foolish. They don’t know me. They are foolish children, and they have no understanding. They are skillful in doing evil, but they don’t know how to do good.”

Our pursuers were swifter than the eagles of the sky. They chased us on the mountains. They set an ambush for us in the wilderness.
