“ And these you shall detest among the birds; they shall not be eaten; they are detestable: the eagle, the bearded vulture, the black vulture,

“ These are the birds that are detestable to you. You must never eat them: the griffon vulture, the bearded vulture, the black vulture,

“ You are to abhor these birds. They must not be eaten because they are abhorrent: eagles, bearded vultures, Egyptian vultures,

‘ Moreover, these you shall detest among the birds; they are detestable, not to be eaten: the eagle, the vulture, and the buzzard,

And even as they did not like to retain God in[ their] knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

[ Set] the trumpet to thy mouth.[ He shall come] as an eagle against the house of the LORD, because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law.

But these[ are they] of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,And the glede, and the kite, and the vulture after his kind,And every raven after his kind,And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind,The little owl, and the great owl, and the swan,And the pelican, and the gier eagle, and the cormorant,And the stork, and the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.And every creeping thing that flieth[ is] unclean unto you: they shall not be eaten.[ But of] all clean fowls ye may eat.

Their horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves: and their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the eagle[ that] hasteth to eat.

Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make her nest on high?She dwelleth and abideth on the rock, upon the crag of the rock, and the strong place.From thence she seeketh the prey,[ and] her eyes behold afar off.Her young ones also suck up blood: and where the slain[ are], there[ is] she.

[ There is] a path which no fowl knoweth, and which the vulture’s eye hath not seen:

Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots[ shall be] as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe unto us! for we are spoiled.

For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful,[ and] hating one another.

For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

For thus saith the LORD; Behold, he shall fly as an eagle, and shall spread his wings over Moab.

Who provideth for the raven his food? when his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of meat.

For my people[ is] foolish, they have not known me; they[ are] sottish children, and they have none understanding: they[ are] wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.

Our persecutors are swifter than the eagles of the heaven: they pursued us upon the mountains, they laid wait for us in the wilderness.
