The elders are gone from the city gate; the young men have stopped their music.

Our elders don’t go to the city gate anymore. Our young men have stopped playing their music.

The old men have left the city gate, the young men their music.

The elders no longer sit in the city gates; the young men no longer dance and sing.

The elders have left the city gate, the young men, their music.

Elders are absent from the gate, Young men from their music.

那時，我必使猶大城邑中和耶路撒冷街上，歡喜和快樂的聲音，新郎和新婦的聲音，都止息了，因為地必成為荒場。」

但如今，比我年少的人戲笑我；其人之父我曾藐視，不肯安在看守我羊羣的狗中。

錫安城的長老坐在地上默默無聲；他們揚起塵土落在頭上，腰束麻布；耶路撒冷的處女垂頭至地。

錫安的路徑因無人來守聖節就悲傷；她的城門淒涼；她的祭司歎息；她的處女受艱難，自己也愁苦。

彈琴、作樂、吹笛、吹號的聲音，在你中間決不能再聽見；各行手藝人在你中間決不能再遇見；推磨的聲音在你中間決不能再聽見；

我出到城門，在街上設立座位；少年人見我而迴避，老年人也起身站立；王子都停止說話，用手摀口；首領靜默無聲，舌頭貼住上膛。耳朵聽我的，就稱我有福；眼睛看我的，便稱讚我；因我拯救哀求的困苦人和無人幫助的孤兒。將要滅亡的為我祝福；我也使寡婦心中歡樂。我以公義為衣服，以公平為外袍和冠冕。我為瞎子的眼，瘸子的腳。我為窮乏人的父；素不認識的人，我查明他的案件。我打破不義之人的牙牀，從他牙齒中奪了所搶的。

我必使你唱歌的聲音止息；人也不再聽見你彈琴的聲音。

除掉勇士和戰士，審判官和先知，占卜的和長老，五十夫長和尊貴人，謀士和有巧藝的，以及妙行法術的。

新酒悲哀，葡萄樹衰殘；心中歡樂的俱都歎息。擊鼓之樂止息；宴樂人的聲音完畢，彈琴之樂也止息了。人必不得飲酒唱歌；喝濃酒的，必以為苦。荒涼的城拆毀了；各家關門閉戶，使人都不得進去。在街上因酒有悲歎的聲音；一切喜樂變為昏暗；地上的歡樂歸於無有。

我又要使歡喜和快樂的聲音，新郎和新婦的聲音，推磨的聲音和燈的亮光，從他們中間止息。

因為萬軍之耶和華－以色列的神如此說：你們還活着的日子在你們眼前，我必使歡喜和快樂的聲音，新郎和新婦的聲音，從這地方止息了。

所以，我的琴音變為悲音；我的簫聲變為哭聲。

我招呼我所親愛的，他們卻愚弄我。我的祭司和長老正尋求食物、救性命的時候，就在城中絕氣。

「你要在耶和華－你神所賜的各城裏，按着各支派設立審判官和官長。他們必按公義的審判判斷百姓。
