Lord, think about what has happened to us. Look at the shame our enemies have brought on us.

Remember, O Lord, what has befallen us; look, and see our disgrace!

You have made us a reproach to our neighbors, the scorn and derision of those around us.You have made us a byword among the nations; the peoples shake their heads at us.I live in disgrace all day long, and my face is covered with shameat the taunts of those who reproach and revile me, because of the enemy, who is bent on revenge.

Remember, Lord, how your servant has been mocked, how I bear in my heart the taunts of all the nations,the taunts with which your enemies, Lord, have mocked, with which they have mocked every step of your anointed one.

Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.

Lord, you have heard their insults, all their plots against me—

Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us, for we have endured no end of contempt.We have endured no end of ridicule from the arrogant, of contempt from the proud.

Lord, you understand; remember me and care for me. Avenge me on my persecutors. You are long- suffering— do not take me away; think of how I suffer reproach for your sake.

Hear us, our God, for we are despised. Turn their insults back on their own heads. Give them over as plunder in a land of captivity.

Pay back into the laps of our neighbors seven times the contempt they have hurled at you, Lord.

“ Remember the instruction you gave your servant Moses, saying,‘ If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations,

Then he said,“ Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”

We are objects of contempt to our neighbors, of scorn and derision to those around us.

Remember, O God, that my life is but a breath; my eyes will never see happiness again.

Remember that you molded me like clay. Will you now turn me to dust again?

They said to me,“ Those who survived the exile and are back in the province are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire.”

“ See, Lord, how distressed I am! I am in torment within, and in my heart I am disturbed, for I have been most rebellious. Outside, the sword bereaves; inside, there is only death.

How long will the enemy mock you, God? Will the foe revile your name forever?Why do you hold back your hand, your right hand? Take it from the folds of your garment and destroy them!

All who pass your way clap their hands at you; they scoff and shake their heads at Daughter Jerusalem:“ Is this the city that was called the perfection of beauty, the joy of the whole earth?”

I remember my affliction and my wandering, the bitterness and the gall.

“ Look, Lord, and consider: Whom have you ever treated like this? Should women eat their offspring, the children they have cared for? Should priest and prophet be killed in the sanctuary of the Lord?
