Even jackals offer the breast; they nurse their young; but the daughter of my people has become cruel, like the ostriches in the wilderness.

野狗尚且把奶乳哺其子，我民的妇人倒成为残忍，好像旷野的鸵鸟一般。

野狗尚且哺乳其子，我百姓的妇人反倒残忍，如旷野的鸵鸟一般；

豺狼尚且哺养自己的幼儿，我的子民却像荒野的鸵鸟一样残忍无情。

野狗尚且用乳房哺养它们的幼儿；但我的众民变得多么残忍，像旷野的鸵鸟一样。

Even jackals offer their breasts to nurse their young, but my people have become heartless like ostriches in the desert.

Even wild dogs nurse their young pups. But my people are as mean as ostriches in the desert.

Even the jackals feed their young, but not my people Israel. They ignore their children’s cries, like ostriches in the desert.

“ The wings of the ostrich wave proudly, but are they the pinions and plumage of love?For she leaves her eggs to the earth and lets them be warmed on the ground,forgetting that a foot may crush them and that the wild beast may trample them.She deals cruelly with her young, as if they were not hers; though her labor be in vain, yet she has no fear,

The hands of compassionate women have boiled their own children; they became their food during the destruction of the daughter of my people.

“ They shall besiege you in all your towns, until your high and fortified walls, in which you trusted, come down throughout all your land. And they shall besiege you in all your towns throughout all your land, which the Lord your God has given you.And you shall eat the fruit of your womb, the flesh of your sons and daughters, whom the Lord your God has given you, in the siege and in the distress with which your enemies shall distress you.The man who is the most tender and refined among you will begrudge food to his brother, to the wife he embraces, and to the last of the children whom he has left,so that he will not give to any of them any of the flesh of his children whom he is eating, because he has nothing else left, in the siege and in the distress with which your enemy shall distress you in all your towns.The most tender and refined woman among you, who would not venture to set the sole of her foot on the ground because she is so delicate and tender, will begrudge to the husband she embraces, to her son and to her daughter,her afterbirth that comes out from between her feet and her children whom she bears, because lacking everything she will eat them secretly, in the siege and in the distress with which your enemy shall distress you in your towns.

Look, O Lord, and see! With whom have you dealt thus? Should women eat the fruit of their womb, the children of their tender care? Should priest and prophet be killed in the sanctuary of the Lord?

You shall eat the flesh of your sons, and you shall eat the flesh of your daughters.

But turning to them Jesus said,“ Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.For behold, the days are coming when they will say,‘ Blessed are the barren and the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’

foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless.

Now as the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried out to him, saying,“ Help, my lord, O king!”And he said,“ If the Lord will not help you, how shall I help you? From the threshing floor, or from the winepress?”And the king asked her,“ What is your trouble?” She answered,“ This woman said to me,‘ Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.’So we boiled my son and ate him. And on the next day I said to her,‘ Give your son, that we may eat him.’ But she has hidden her son.”

“ Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you.
