Even jackals offer their breasts to nurse their young, but my dear people have become cruel like ostriches in the wilderness.

野狗尚且把奶乳哺其子，我民的妇人倒成为残忍，好像旷野的鸵鸟一般。

野狗尚且哺乳其子，我百姓的妇人反倒残忍，如旷野的鸵鸟一般；

野狗尚且哺乳其子，我百姓的妇人反倒残忍，如旷野的鸵鸟一般；

豺狼尚且哺养自己的幼儿，我的子民却像荒野的鸵鸟一样残忍无情。

野狗尚且用乳房哺养它们的幼儿；但我的众民变得多么残忍，像旷野的鸵鸟一样。

Even jackals offer their breasts to nurse their young, but my people have become heartless like ostriches in the desert.

Even wild dogs nurse their young pups. But my people are as mean as ostriches in the desert.

As a result, fathers will eat their sons within Jerusalem, and sons will eat their fathers. I will execute judgments against you and scatter all your survivors to every direction of the wind.

I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and their daughters, and they will eat each other’s flesh in the distressing siege inflicted on them by their enemies who intend to take their life.’

The wings of the ostrich flap joyfully, but are her feathers and plumage like the stork’s?She abandons her eggs on the ground and lets them be warmed in the sand.She forgets that a foot may crush them or that some wild animal may trample them.She treats her young harshly, as if they were not her own, with no fear that her labor may have been in vain.

The hands of compassionate women have cooked their own children; they became their food during the destruction of my dear people.

They will besiege you within all your city gates until your high and fortified walls, that you trust in, come down throughout your land. They will besiege you within all your city gates throughout the land the LORD your God has given you.“ You will eat your offspring, the flesh of your sons and daughters the LORD your God has given you during the siege and hardship your enemy imposes on you.The most sensitive and refined man among you will look grudgingly at his brother, the wife he embraces, and the rest of his children,refusing to share with any of them his children’s flesh that he will eat because he has nothing left during the siege and hardship your enemy imposes on you in all your towns.The most sensitive and refined woman among you, who would not venture to set the sole of her foot on the ground because of her refinement and sensitivity, will begrudge the husband she embraces, her son, and her daughter,the afterbirth that comes out from between her legs and the children she bears, because she will secretly eat them for lack of anything else during the siege and hardship your enemy imposes on you within your city gates.

LORD, look and consider to whom you have done this. Should women eat their own children, the infants they have nurtured? Should priests and prophets be killed in the Lord’s sanctuary?

You will eat the flesh of your sons; you will eat the flesh of your daughters.

But turning to them, Jesus said,“ Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and your children.Look, the days are coming when they will say,‘ Blessed are the women without children, the wombs that never bore, and the breasts that never nursed!’

As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried out to him,“ My lord the king, help!”He answered,“ If the LORD doesn’t help you, where can I get help for you? From the threshing floor or the winepress?”Then the king asked her,“ What’s the matter?” She said,“ This woman said to me,‘ Give up your son, and we will eat him today. Then we will eat my son tomorrow.’So we boiled my son and ate him, and I said to her the next day,‘ Give up your son, and we will eat him,’ but she has hidden her son.”

“ Can a woman forget her nursing child, or lack compassion for the child of her womb? Even if these forget, yet I will not forget you.
