Now they grope through the streets as if they were blind. They are so defiled with blood that no one dares to touch their garments.

Now those prophets and priests have to feel their way along the streets as if they were blind. The blood of those they killed has made them“ unclean.” So no one dares to touch their clothes.

They wandered, blind, through the streets; they were so defiled with blood that no one was able to touch their garments.

On your clothes is found the lifeblood of the innocent poor, though you did not catch them breaking in. Yet in spite of all this

When you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you; even when you offer many prayers, I am not listening. Your hands are full of blood!

The Lord will afflict you with madness, blindness and confusion of mind.At midday you will grope about like a blind person in the dark. You will be unsuccessful in everything you do; day after day you will be oppressed and robbed, with no one to rescue you.

“ Anyone out in the open who touches someone who has been killed with a sword or someone who has died a natural death, or anyone who touches a human bone or a grave, will be unclean for seven days.

Israel’s watchmen are blind, they all lack knowledge; they are all mute dogs, they cannot bark; they lie around and dream, they love to sleep.

Therefore night will come over you, without visions, and darkness, without divination. The sun will set for the prophets, and the day will go dark for them.The seers will be ashamed and the diviners disgraced. They will all cover their faces because there is no answer from God.”

“‘ Do not pollute the land where you are. Bloodshed pollutes the land, and atonement cannot be made for the land on which blood has been shed, except by the blood of the one who shed it.

Leave them; they are blind guides. If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.”

They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.

The Lord has brought over you a deep sleep: He has sealed your eyes( the prophets); he has covered your heads( the seers).For you this whole vision is nothing but words sealed in a scroll. And if you give the scroll to someone who can read, and say,“ Read this, please,” they will answer,“ I can’t; it is sealed.”Or if you give the scroll to someone who cannot read, and say,“ Read this, please,” they will answer,“ I don’t know how to read.”

So justice is far from us, and righteousness does not reach us. We look for light, but all is darkness; for brightness, but we walk in deep shadows.Like the blind we grope along the wall, feeling our way like people without eyes. At midday we stumble as if it were twilight; among the strong, we are like the dead.We all growl like bears; we moan mournfully like doves. We look for justice, but find none; for deliverance, but it is far away.

There is only cursing, lying and murder, stealing and adultery; they break all bounds, and bloodshed follows bloodshed.
