Yahweh, you have seen my wrong. Judge my cause.

耶和华啊，你见了我受的委屈；求你为我伸冤。

Lord, you have seen the wrong done to me. Uphold my cause!

Lord, you have seen the wrong things people have done to me. Stand up for me again!

You have seen the wrong done to me, O Lord; judge my cause.

You have seen the wrong they have done to me, Lord. Be my judge, and prove me right.

LORD, you saw the wrong done to me; judge my case.

Lord, You have seen my oppression; Judge my case.

O Lord, You have seen how I am wronged; Judge my case.

O Jehovah, thou hast seen my wrong; judge thou my cause.

Lord, You see the wrong done to me; judge my case.

O LORD, thou hast seen my wrong: judge thou my cause.

You have seen the wrong done to me, O LORD; pronounce judgment on my behalf!

Vindicate me, God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation. Oh, deliver me from deceitful and wicked men.

Wake up! Rise up to defend me, my God! My Lord, contend for me!

Judge me, Yahweh, for I have walked in my integrity. I have trusted also in Yahweh without wavering.

Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned as king, instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, listened to Yahweh’s words, which he spoke by the prophet Jeremiah.Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, to the prophet Jeremiah, saying,“ Pray now to Yahweh our God for us.”Now Jeremiah came in and went out among the people; for they had not put him into prison.Pharaoh’s army had come out of Egypt; and when the Chaldeans who were besieging Jerusalem heard news of them, they broke up from Jerusalem.Then Yahweh’s word came to the prophet Jeremiah, saying,“ Yahweh, the God of Israel, says,‘ You shall tell the king of Judah, who sent you to me to inquire of me:“ Behold, Pharaoh’s army, which has come out to help you, will return to Egypt into their own land.The Chaldeans will come again, and fight against this city. They will take it and burn it with fire.”’“ Yahweh says,‘ Don’t deceive yourselves, saying,“ The Chaldeans will surely depart from us;” for they will not depart.For though you had struck the whole army of the Chaldeans who fight against you, and only wounded men remained among them, they would each rise up in his tent and burn this city with fire.’”When the army of the Chaldeans had broken up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh’s army,then Jeremiah went out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to receive his portion there, in the middle of the people.When he was in Benjamin’s gate, a captain of the guard was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying,“ You are defecting to the Chaldeans!”Then Jeremiah said,“ That is false! I am not defecting to the Chaldeans.” But he didn’t listen to him; so Irijah seized Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.The princes were angry with Jeremiah, and struck him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe; for they had made that the prison.When Jeremiah had come into the dungeon house, and into the cells, and Jeremiah had remained there many days,then Zedekiah the king sent, and had him brought out. The king asked him secretly in his house,“ Is there any word from Yahweh?” Jeremiah said,“ There is.” He also said,“ You will be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.”Moreover Jeremiah said to king Zedekiah,“ How have I sinned against you, against your servants, or against this people, that you have put me in prison?Now where are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying,‘ The king of Babylon will not come against you, nor against this land?’Now please hear, my lord the king: please let my supplication be presented before you, that you not cause me to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.”Then Zedekiah the king commanded, and they committed Jeremiah into the court of the guard. They gave him daily a loaf of bread out of the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city was gone. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.

For you have maintained my just cause. You sit on the throne judging righteously.

Then they said,“ Come! Let’s devise plans against Jeremiah; for the law won’t perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let’s strike him with the tongue, and let’s not give heed to any of his words.”Give heed to me, Yahweh, and listen to the voice of those who contend with me.Should evil be recompensed for good? For they have dug a pit for my soul. Remember how I stood before you to speak good for them, to turn away your wrath from them.Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and give them over to the power of the sword. Let their wives become childless and widows. Let their men be killed and their young men struck by the sword in battle.Let a cry be heard from their houses when you bring a troop suddenly on them; for they have dug a pit to take me and hidden snares for my feet.Yet, Yahweh, you know all their counsel against me to kill me. Don’t forgive their iniquity. Don’t blot out their sin from your sight, Let them be overthrown before you. Deal with them in the time of your anger.

Woe is me, my mother, that you have borne me, a man of strife, and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have not lent, neither have men lent to me; yet every one of them curses me.

But I was like a gentle lamb that is led to the slaughter. I didn’t know that they had devised plans against me, saying,“ Let’s destroy the tree with its fruit, and let’s cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.”But, Yahweh of Armies, who judges righteously, who tests the heart and the mind, I will see your vengeance on them; for to you I have revealed my cause.“ Therefore Yahweh says concerning the men of Anathoth, who seek your life, saying,‘ You shall not prophesy in Yahweh’s name, that you not die by our hand;’

Yahweh, you have persuaded me, and I was persuaded. You are stronger than I, and have prevailed. I have become a laughingstock all day. Everyone mocks me.For as often as I speak, I cry out; I cry,“ Violence and destruction!” because Yahweh’s word has been made a reproach to me, and a derision, all day.If I say, I will not make mention of him, or speak any more in his name, then there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones. I am weary with holding it in. I can’t.For I have heard the defaming of many,“ Terror on every side! Denounce, and we will denounce him!” say all my familiar friends, those who watch for my fall.“ Perhaps he will be persuaded, and we will prevail against him, and we will take our revenge on him.”

Unless the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely now you would have sent me away empty. God has seen my affliction and the labor of my hands, and rebuked you last night.”

Contend, Yahweh, with those who contend with me. Fight against those who fight against me.

When he was cursed, he didn’t curse back. When he suffered, he didn’t threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously.
