You have seen the wrong done to me, O Lord; judge my cause.

Lord, you have seen the wrong done to me. Uphold my cause!

Lord, you have seen the wrong things people have done to me. Stand up for me again!

You have seen the wrong they have done to me, Lord. Be my judge, and prove me right.

LORD, you saw the wrong done to me; judge my case.

Lord, You have seen my oppression; Judge my case.

O Lord, You have seen how I am wronged; Judge my case.

O Jehovah, thou hast seen my wrong; judge thou my cause.

Lord, You see the wrong done to me; judge my case.

You have seen the wrong done to me, O LORD; pronounce judgment on my behalf!

Yahweh, you have seen my wrong. Judge my cause.

Vindicate me, O God, and defend my cause against an ungodly people, from the deceitful and unjust man deliver me!

Awake and rouse yourself for my vindication, for my cause, my God and my Lord!

Vindicate me, O Lord, for I have walked in my integrity, and I have trusted in the Lord without wavering.

Zedekiah the son of Josiah, whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah, reigned instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim.But neither he nor his servants nor the people of the land listened to the words of the Lord that he spoke through Jeremiah the prophet.King Zedekiah sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah the priest, the son of Maaseiah, to Jeremiah the prophet, saying,“ Please pray for us to the Lord our God.”Now Jeremiah was still going in and out among the people, for he had not yet been put in prison.The army of Pharaoh had come out of Egypt. And when the Chaldeans who were besieging Jerusalem heard news about them, they withdrew from Jerusalem.Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet:“ Thus says the Lord, God of Israel: Thus shall you say to the king of Judah who sent you to me to inquire of me,‘ Behold, Pharaoh’s army that came to help you is about to return to Egypt, to its own land.And the Chaldeans shall come back and fight against this city. They shall capture it and burn it with fire.Thus says the Lord, Do not deceive yourselves, saying,“ The Chaldeans will surely go away from us,” for they will not go away.For even if you should defeat the whole army of Chaldeans who are fighting against you, and there remained of them only wounded men, every man in his tent, they would rise up and burn this city with fire.’”Now when the Chaldean army had withdrawn from Jerusalem at the approach of Pharaoh’s army,Jeremiah set out from Jerusalem to go to the land of Benjamin to receive his portion there among the people.When he was at the Benjamin Gate, a sentry there named Irijah the son of Shelemiah, son of Hananiah, seized Jeremiah the prophet, saying,“ You are deserting to the Chaldeans.”And Jeremiah said,“ It is a lie; I am not deserting to the Chaldeans.” But Irijah would not listen to him, and seized Jeremiah and brought him to the officials.And the officials were enraged at Jeremiah, and they beat him and imprisoned him in the house of Jonathan the secretary, for it had been made a prison.When Jeremiah had come to the dungeon cells and remained there many days,King Zedekiah sent for him and received him. The king questioned him secretly in his house and said,“ Is there any word from the Lord?” Jeremiah said,“ There is.” Then he said,“ You shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.”Jeremiah also said to King Zedekiah,“ What wrong have I done to you or your servants or this people, that you have put me in prison?Where are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying,‘ The king of Babylon will not come against you and against this land’?Now hear, please, O my lord the king: let my humble plea come before you and do not send me back to the house of Jonathan the secretary, lest I die there.”So King Zedekiah gave orders, and they committed Jeremiah to the court of the guard. And a loaf of bread was given him daily from the bakers’ street, until all the bread of the city was gone. So Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.

For you have maintained my just cause; you have sat on the throne, giving righteous judgment.

Then they said,“ Come, let us make plots against Jeremiah, for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, let us strike him with the tongue, and let us not pay attention to any of his words.”Hear me, O Lord, and listen to the voice of my adversaries.Should good be repaid with evil? Yet they have dug a pit for my life. Remember how I stood before you to speak good for them, to turn away your wrath from them.Therefore deliver up their children to famine; give them over to the power of the sword; let their wives become childless and widowed. May their men meet death by pestilence, their youths be struck down by the sword in battle.May a cry be heard from their houses, when you bring the plunderer suddenly upon them! For they have dug a pit to take me and laid snares for my feet.Yet you, O Lord, know all their plotting to kill me. Forgive not their iniquity, nor blot out their sin from your sight. Let them be overthrown before you; deal with them in the time of your anger.

Woe is me, my mother, that you bore me, a man of strife and contention to the whole land! I have not lent, nor have I borrowed, yet all of them curse me.

But I was like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter. I did not know it was against me they devised schemes, saying,“ Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name be remembered no more.”But, O Lord of hosts, who judges righteously, who tests the heart and the mind, let me see your vengeance upon them, for to you have I committed my cause.Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the men of Anathoth, who seek your life, and say,“ Do not prophesy in the name of the Lord, or you will die by our hand”—

O Lord, you have deceived me, and I was deceived; you are stronger than I, and you have prevailed. I have become a laughingstock all the day; everyone mocks me.For whenever I speak, I cry out, I shout,“ Violence and destruction!” For the word of the Lord has become for me a reproach and derision all day long.If I say,“ I will not mention him, or speak any more in his name,” there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot.For I hear many whispering. Terror is on every side!“ Denounce him! Let us denounce him!” say all my close friends, watching for my fall.“ Perhaps he will be deceived; then we can overcome him and take our revenge on him.”

If the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the Fear of Isaac, had not been on my side, surely now you would have sent me away empty-handed. God saw my affliction and the labor of my hands and rebuked you last night.”

Contend, O Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me!

When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.
