Waters flowed over mine head;[ then] I said, I am cut off.

the waters closed over my head, and I thought I was about to perish.

The water rose and covered my head. I thought I was going to die.

For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.The waters compassed me about,[ even] to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.

Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.

Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me.

And I said, My strength and my hope is perished from the LORD:

Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.

I said in the cutting off of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the residue of my years.I said, I shall not see the LORD,[ even] the LORD, in the land of the living: I shall behold man no more with the inhabitants of the world.Mine age is departed, and is removed from me as a shepherd’s tent: I have cut off like a weaver my life: he will cut me off with pining sickness: from day[ even] to night wilt thou make an end of me.I reckoned till morning,[ that], as a lion, so will he break all my bones: from day[ even] to night wilt thou make an end of me.

For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.

Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto[ my] soul.I sink in deep mire, where[ there is] no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead:Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver[ us];

My days are past, my purposes are broken off,[ even] the thoughts of my heart.They change the night into day: the light[ is] short because of darkness.If I wait, the grave[ is] mine house: I have made my bed in the darkness.I have said to corruption, Thou[ art] my father: to the worm,[ Thou art] my mother, and my sister.And where[ is] now my hope? as for my hope, who shall see it?They shall go down to the bars of the pit, when[ our] rest together[ is] in the dust.
