For no reason, my enemies hunted me like a bird.

无故与我为仇的追逼我，像追雀鸟一样。

无故与我为敌的追逼我，像追捕雀鸟一样。

无故与我为敌的追逼我，像追捕雀鸟一样。

敌人无故地追捕我，如同捕猎飞鸟。

那些无故与我为敌的人追捕我，像追捕雀鸟一样。

無故與我為仇的追逼我，像追雀鳥一樣。

無故與我為敵的追逼我，像追捕雀鳥一樣。

無故與我為敵的追逼我，像追捕雀鳥一樣。

敵人無故地追捕我，如同捕獵飛鳥。

那些無故與我為敵的人追捕我，像追捕雀鳥一樣。

『我的仇敵無緣無故緊緊追捕我，像捕雀鳥一樣。

無故為我敵者、急追我如追鳥兮、

敵人追予、出於無因、若鳥被逐兮。

無故憾我者、追我若鳥、

Those who were my enemies without cause hunted me like a bird.

Those who were my enemies for no reason at all hunted me down as if I were a bird.

“ I have been hunted like a bird by those who were my enemies without cause;

My enemies, whom I have never harmed, hunted me down like a bird.

My enemies without reason Hunted me down like a bird;

My enemies without cause Hunted me down like a bird.

They have chased me sore like a bird, they that are mine enemies without cause.

For no apparent reason, my enemies hunted me like a bird.

Mine enemies chased me sore, like a bird, without cause.

For no good reason my enemies hunted me down like a bird.

They have chased me relentlessly like a bird, those who are my enemies without cause.

Do not let my deceitful enemies rejoice over me; do not let those who hate me without cause wink at me maliciously.

They hid their net for me without cause; they dug a pit for me without cause.

But this happened so that the statement written in their law might be fulfilled: They hated me for no reason.

Then he continued,“ Why is my lord pursuing his servant? What have I done? What crime have I committed?Now, may my lord the king please hear the words of his servant: If it is the LORD who has incited you against me, then may he accept an offering. But if it is people, may they be cursed in the presence of the LORD, for today they have banished me from sharing in the inheritance of the LORD, saying,‘ Go and worship other gods.’So don’t let my blood fall to the ground far from the LORD’s presence, for the king of Israel has come out to search for a single flea, like one who pursues a partridge in the mountains.”

Then Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah,“ How have I sinned against you or your servants or these people that you have put me in prison?

Please forgive your servant’s offense, for the LORD is certain to make a lasting dynasty for my lord because he fights the LORD’s battles. Throughout your life, may evil not be found in you.“ Someone is pursuing you and intends to take your life. My lord’s life is tucked safely in the place where the LORD your God protects the living, but he is flinging away your enemies’ lives like stones from a sling.

The officials then said to the king,“ This man ought to die, because he is weakening the morale of the warriors who remain in this city and of all the people by speaking to them in this way. This man is not pursuing the welfare of this people, but their harm.”King Zedekiah said,“ Here he is; he’s in your hands since the king can’t do anything against you.”So they took Jeremiah and dropped him into the cistern of Malchiah the king’s son, which was in the guard’s courtyard, lowering Jeremiah with ropes. There was no water in the cistern, only mud, and Jeremiah sank in the mud.

They surround me with hateful words and attack me without cause.

You can see with your own eyes that the LORD handed you over to me today in the cave. Someone advised me to kill you, but I took pity on you and said: I won’t lift my hand against my lord, since he is the LORD’s anointed.Look, my father! Look at the corner of your robe in my hand, for I cut it off, but I didn’t kill you. Recognize that I’ve committed no crime or rebellion. I haven’t sinned against you even though you are hunting me down to take my life.“ May the LORD judge between me and you, and may the LORD take vengeance on you for me, but my hand will never be against you.As the old proverb says,‘ Wickedness comes from wicked people.’ My hand will never be against you.Who has the king of Israel come after? What are you chasing after? A dead dog? A single flea?May the LORD be judge and decide between you and me. May he take notice and plead my case and deliver me from you.”

The officials were angry at Jeremiah and beat him and placed him in jail in the house of Jonathan the scribe, for it had been made into a prison.So Jeremiah went into a cell in the dungeon and stayed there many days.

Princes have persecuted me without cause, but my heart fears only your word.

Those who hate me without cause are more numerous than the hairs of my head; my deceitful enemies, who would destroy me, are powerful. Though I did not steal, I must repay.

I have taken refuge in the LORD. How can you say to me,“ Escape to the mountains like a bird!
