My eyes bring suffering to my soul Because of all the daughters of my city.

因我本城的众民，我的眼，使我的心伤痛。

为我城中的百姓，我眼所见的使我心痛。

目睹城中妇女的遭遇，我痛苦不已。

因眼见我城中众民的遭遇，我的心很痛苦。

因我本城的眾民，我的眼，使我的心傷痛。

目睹城中婦女的遭遇，我痛苦不已。

因眼見我城中眾民的遭遇，我的心很痛苦。

我的眼使我傷痛，都因我本城眾民的緣故。

緣我邑中諸女、觸目而傷心兮、

邑民淪喪、我淚盈睫、至於患疾兮。

我為我邑之諸女、心傷目痛、心傷目痛或作我目之淚使我心傷

What I see brings grief to my soul because of all the women of my city.

What I see brings pain to my spirit. All the women of my city are mourning.

my eyes cause me grief at the fate of all the daughters of my city.

My heart is breaking over the fate of all the women of Jerusalem.

My eyes bring me grief because of the fate of all the women in my city.

My eyes bring pain to my soul Because of all the daughters of my city.

Mine eye affecteth my soul, because of all the daughters of my city.

What my eyes see grieves me– all the suffering of the daughters in my city.צ( Tsade)

“ Young and old lie On the ground in the streets; My virgins and my young men Have fallen by the sword; You have slain them in the day of Your anger, You have slaughtered and not pitied.

Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it,saying,“ If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side,and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation.”

So David and his men came to the city, and there it was, burned with fire; and their wives, their sons, and their daughters had been taken captive.Then David and the people who were with him lifted up their voices and wept, until they had no more power to weep.

For how shall I go up to my father if the lad is not with me, lest perhaps I see the evil that would come upon my father?”

If I go out to the field, Then behold, those slain with the sword! And if I enter the city, Then behold, those sick from famine! Yes, both prophet and priest go about in a land they do not know.’”

O my soul, my soul! I am pained in my very heart! My heart makes a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, Because you have heard, O my soul, The sound of the trumpet, The alarm of war.Destruction upon destruction is cried, For the whole land is plundered. Suddenly my tents are plundered, And my curtains in a moment.How long will I see the standard, And hear the sound of the trumpet?

“ The Lord is righteous, For I rebelled against His commandment. Hear now, all peoples, And behold my sorrow; My virgins and my young men Have gone into captivity.

They ravished the women in Zion, The maidens in the cities of Judah.

And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and everyone shall eat the flesh of his friend in the siege and in the desperation with which their enemies and those who seek their lives shall drive them to despair.”’

therefore thus says the Lord of hosts:‘ Behold, I will punish them. The young men shall die by the sword, their sons and their daughters shall die by famine;

And the people to whom they prophesy shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and the sword; they will have no one to bury them— them nor their wives, their sons nor their daughters— for I will pour their wickedness on them.’
