But I am a worm and not a man, scorned by everyone, despised by the people.All who see me mock me; they hurl insults, shaking their heads.“ He trusts in the Lord,” they say,“ let the Lord rescue him. Let him deliver him, since he delights in him.” (niv)

Two rebels were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left.Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their headsand saying,“ You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!”In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him.“ He saved others,” they said,“ but he can’t save himself! He’s the king of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.He trusts in God. Let God rescue him now if he wants him, for he said,‘ I am the Son of God.’”In the same way the rebels who were crucified with him also heaped insults on him.From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over all the land. But among the Israelites not a dog will bark at any person or animal.’ Then you will know that the Lord makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel. (niv)

You have made us a reproach to our neighbors, the scorn and derision of those around us.You have made us a byword among the nations; the peoples shake their heads at us. (niv)

We are objects of contempt to our neighbors, of scorn and derision to those around us. (niv)

“ And now those young men mock me in song; I have become a byword among them.They detest me and keep their distance; they do not hesitate to spit in my face.Now that God has unstrung my bow and afflicted me, they throw off restraint in my presence. (niv)

Why should the nations say,“ Where is their God?” Before our eyes, make known among the nations that you avenge the outpoured blood of your servants. (niv)
